A large proportion of players lack the desire – and height – to produce a commanding aerial performance. However, plenty of others relish aerial duels and make it their business to dominate opponents every time the ball leaves the turf.

They are usually central defenders, who are forced to repel long balls and crosses into the area. However, some old-school centre-forwards also take to the skies in an effort to find a route to goal, despite most teams in the Premier League preferring to keep things on the floor these days.
