These are the best Premier League stats from Gameweek 3, a weekend in which Erling Haaland became the second-fastest player in history to score 300 club goals and clean sheet kings Hull City continued their fine start.
Tottenham hit a 52-year low, Bournemouth set an unwanted Premier League first, Liverpool‘s No.9 sparkled, and not one but two full-backs shone for Crystal Palace.
On top of that, for the first time in English top-flight history three clubs – Aston Villa, Coventry City, and Spurs – have now failed to score in any of their first three league games.

Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea
- Christos Tzolis has recorded more assists than any other player in Europe’s top 10 leagues since the start of last season (24).
Arsenal came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 at the Emirates. The Gunners have won all three matches so far this season and are now unbeaten in 10 successive league matches against the Blues.
Summer signing Christos Tzolis set up Martin Odegaard’s second-half winner. The Greek has now recorded more assists than any other player in Europe’s top 10 leagues since the start of last season (24).
Chelsea did become the first club in Premier League history to score in the opening five minutes of their first three games of the season.

Manchester City 1-0 Coventry
- Erling Haaland became the second fastest player to reach 300 club goals after Lionel Messi.
Erling Haaland scored the only goal of the game as Manchester City beat Coventry City 1-0. It was the Norwegian’s 300th club goal of his career across spells at Man City, Borussia Dortmund, RB Salzburg, and Molde.
Haaland reached the landmark in just 368 games, second behind only Lionel Messi, who did so in 365 matches.
Haaland’s teammate, Elliot Anderson, completed 146 passes against Coventry which is the most by an English midfielder in a Premier League match on record (since 2003/04).
Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham
- Tottenham have failed to score in their opening three top-flight games for the first time in 52 years.
Tottenham’s frustrating and fruitless start to the season continued after they were held to a goalless draw away to Nottingham Forest.
Spurs may have picked up their first point but it does mean they have started a top-flight season with three goalless games for the first time since 1974/75.
Hull City 0-0 Aston Villa
- Hull City are only the third promoted side to keep clean sheets in their first three Premier League games.
Hull City made it three clean sheets from three games with the 0-0 draw at home Aston Villa, who remain winless.
Hull became just the third promoted side ever to keep a clean sheet in their opening three games after Charlton Athletic in 1998/99 and Huddersfield Town in 2017/18.
Sergej Jakirovic’s 3rd-placed Tigers are now the only side in the top-flight yet to concede.
One other positive to note for Hull fans: No promoted side has ever been relegated after taking 7+ points from their opening three games.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa are just the second side in top-flight history to fail to score in their opening three games of a season in consecutive campaigns after Ipswich Town in 1969/70 and 1970/71.
Everton 2-2 Manchester United
- Man Utd have conceded two or more goals in each of their first three league games for only the second time in 50 years.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored a dramatic 95:11 equaliser on his Everton debut to rescue a point for his new side at home to Manchester United. It was only the player’s second goal in 110 Premier League games.
Man United have now shipped two or more goals in each of their first three league games for only the second time in 50 years.

Newcastle 2-2 Bournemouth
- Bournemouth are the first side in Premier League history to open the scoring in each of their first three games of a season and not win any of them.
Bournemouth are still seeking their first win under new boss Marco Rose after they were held to a 2-2 draw at Newcastle.
The Cherries will be kicking themselves for once again failing to hold onto a lead. The south coast side led 2-0 after 35 minutes, but conceded two goals, including an 88th minute equaliser to draw 2-2.
This comes after they conceded an injury-time equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Everton and two goals in the last five minutes in a 2-1 defeat to Man City.
Ipswich Town 0-2 Liverpool
- Alexander Isak has already equalled his Premier League goal tally from the whole of last season (3).
After an injury-plagued first season with Liverpool, Alexander Isak is making up for lost time with three goals in three games this term. The striker now already has the same amount of Premier League goals as the whole of last season.
Isak scored both goals in the 2-0 win away to Ipswich to put him level with Bruno Fernandes and Erling Haaland at the top of the scoring charts. It was the earliest brace (nine minutes) by a Liverpool player in the Premier League since Maxi Rodriguez back in May 2011.
Fulham 2-3 Crystal Palace
- Full-back Tyrick Mitchell scored more Premier League goals in one afternoon (2), than he had done in the previous two seasons combined (1).
Tyrick Mitchell bagged a brace before his replacement, Ben Chilwell, scored the winner on his return in Crystal Palace’s 3-2 win away to Fulham.
Mitchell has now scored more Premier League goals in one afternoon, than he had done in the previous two seasons combined (1).
Meanwhile, Alvaro Arbeloa’s Fulham have lost three in a row and conceded seven at home in two games. It’s only the third time that the Cottagers have started a top-flight season with three straight defeats.
Brighton 1-1 Leeds
- Diego Gomez has had the most shots (12) of any Premier League player without scoring so far this season.
Brighton’s teenage club-record signing Luka Vuskovic scored his first goal in English football to claim a point for Brighton against Leeds.
His teammate, Diego Gomez, had a busy game with four shots. He’s now accrued 12 shots across three games, behind only Bruno Fernandes (12) and Erling Haaland (14) so far this season. However, unlike that duo, Gomez has yet to find the back of the net.
Brentford 1-1 Sunderland
- Enzo le Fee has 12 Premier League goal involvements since the start of last season, more than any Sunderland player.
Brentford extended their unbeaten start to the season after they drew 1-1 at home to Sunderland. Vitaly Janelt’s opener for the hosts was cancelled out by Enzo le Fee’s late penalty.
The Frenchman kept his cool to slot home and once again highlight his importance to Sunderland. He now has 12 Premier League goal involvements (6G & 6A) since the start of last season, more than any of his teammates.
