The 2026/27 Premier League is back from the international break and Gameweek 6 is a big one.
All eyes will be on Manchester City‘s trip to Anfield to face Liverpool for more reason than one. But there is also a tasty clash between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Read on for the best Premier League stats you might see in Gameweek 6.
Stats you might see in Gameweek 6
Arsenal vs Leeds
- Leeds are seeking their first away league win against Arsenal in 23 years.
Arsenal went into the international break having lost to Brighton and Hove Albion — ending their perfect start. It also brought an end to the Gunners’ nine-game winning run in the league.
Leeds United will be hoping to extend that winless run while maintaining their own unbeaten start. The Yorkshire club remain unbeaten in the league with two wins and three draws from five matches so far. It’s the first time Leeds have remained unbeaten after five Premier League games since 2001/02.
But it has been a long time since Leeds beat Arsenal way in the league. It was a big victory in the grand scheme of things too, as Leeds’ 3-2 win at Highbury on 4th May 2003 handed the Premier League title to Man Utd. Mark Viduka scored the late winner for Leeds, with Harry Kewell and Ian Harte also on the score sheet.
Since that costly defeat, Arsenal have won all five home Premier League meetings with Leeds. They’ve scored 20 goals and conceded just four in that time. The Gunners are also unbeaten in 10 games against Leeds home and away in the league.
Sunderland vs Brighton
- Sunderland are looking to score a first Premier League goal against Brighton.
Sunderland fans will be hoping to see their team score this weekend, for more than one reason. The Black Cats have posted the fourth-highest Expected Goals total in the Premier League this season, with 9.21. But they have only scored six goals and have missed 15 chances — the most of any club.
That doesn’t make for good reading for their fans. Especially considering Sunderland didn’t score in either of their league games against Brighton and Hove Albion last season. It came despite Sunderland posting 2.28 xG across the two fixtures. They were one of nine teams in the Premier League last season to have had at least 2.0 xG against a team without scoring.
Ipswich vs Fulham
- Fulham could win their first away league game since February.
Alvaro Arbeloa hasn’t had the best start to life as Fulham manager. The Cottagers lost their first three games and although they have stopped the rot, it is only win two draws. They’re one of three teams still awaiting their first Premier League win of the season. It’s in stark contrast to Arbeloa’s time at Real Madrid, when it won 18 of his 28 games in charge.
Again, though, history is against Fulham ahead of their trip to Portman Road. Fulham are winless in their past seven away league games since beating Sunderland 3-1 at the Stadium of Light in February. The Cottagers have also never beaten Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
These sides have only met four times in the Premier League, with three finishing level. But Ipswich did also win a game at Portman Road in January 2002, thanks to a goal from Marcus Bent.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth
- Chelsea vs Bournemouth could finish level for a fourth consecutive time.
There hasn’t been much to separate Chelsea and Bournemouth in recent meetings. The last three games have finished level, including a pair of 2-2 draws at Stamford Bridge. There is every chance that the run could reach a fourth consecutive draw this weekend.
Bournemouth are still winless in the league under Marco Rose, with three draws and two defeats. But they have a good record against Chelsea, with three previous victories at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are on a club-record run of games without a clean sheet. It’s now 21 matches since the Blues last recorded a Premier League shutout, against Brentford in January. Chelsea also have the worst defence in the league this season, conceding 12 goals in their five matches. Xabi Alonso‘s men are winless in three in the league too, drawing one alongside two defeats.
Aston Villa vs Brentford
- Aston Villa will be hoping to avoid a third-straight home defeat at the start of a Premier League season for the first time.
History could be on the cards at Villa Park, and not in the way Aston Villa fans want. It wasn’t too long ago that Villa Park was a fortress. But now it’s more like a gift shop, handing out free wins this season.
Aston Villa have already lost to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest at Villa Park this season, the latter claiming their first away win over Villa since 1994. The Villans have lost their opening two home games of a Premier League season previously, in 2013/14. But after losing to Liverpool and Newcastle United, Aston Villa bounced back in their third home game by beating Manchester City — who would go on to win the title.
It doesn’t look good for Aston Villa either. Unai Emery‘s men have the second-lowest xG in the league this season, with 4.55. They also face a Brentford side unbeaten in the league this season. The Bees also won on their last visit to Villa Park, with Dango Ouattara scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory.
Man Utd vs Tottenham
- Tottenham could go winless in their first six games of a Premier League season for just the second time.
The 2008/09 season was one to forget for Tottenham, and their worst for some time — before the current period saw Spurs at genuine risk of relegation. Led by Juande Ramos, Tottenham went winless in their opening eight games of the season, something they haven’t matched since.
But the current Tottenham crop are on their way. If Tottenham fail to beat Man Utd this weekend, they’ll have hit six winless games to start the season for the first time since 2008/09. Roberto De Zerbi‘s men only scored their first league goals going into the international break, although they still fell to a 3-2 defeat against Aston Villa.
Man Utd aren’t doing too well themselves, either. The Red Devils are now winless in their past three league games and have only taken five points from their first five games. Michael Carrick‘s men are also yet to keep a clean sheet this season and have only won one of their past nine games against Tottenham across all competitions. That did come in the most recent meeting at Old Trafford, however.
Hull vs Everton
- Everton could claim their first away league win since February.
Everton fans have been waiting a while to see their team win away from home in the Premier League. The Toffees left St James’ Park with a 3-2 victory at the end of February, their fourth win in six away league games — alongside two draws. But that unbeaten run would end there, with a new streak starting.
David Moyes‘ men are winlessin their past seven away league games, losing three and drawing four. While they can be forgiven for losing to Arsenal at the Emirates, Everton have also only taken one point from two trips to face a struggling Tottenham. West Ham United also beat Everton on their way to the Championshp, with further draws against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.
Hull City will be hoping to keep Everton’s winless run going, while also remaining unbeaten at home. The Tigers have outperformed expectations early on, only losing once in the league so far. And they have taken four points from their two home games so far, keeping clean sheets against Man Utd and Aston Villa.
Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest
- Crystal Palace are looking to beat Nottingham Forest in the Premier League for the first time.
While this isn’t the story of the weekend, there is a good narrative for Nottingham Forest’s trip to Crystal Palace. It’s the first return to Selhurst Park for Oliver Glasner since leaving the Eagles at the end of last season. The Austrian is the best manager in Crystal Palace’s history and will surely be given a warm greeting. But that won’t stop him from trying to get one over against his former team.
Not least because he’s had a rocky start at Nottingham Forest with just one win from five league games. Goals have been the main problem for Forest, who have scored four goals from 7.54 xG — the biggest underperformance in the Premier League.
But a win may be more important for Crystal Palace. The Eagles have actually never beaten Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, with this being their 13th meeting. Forest have won four alongside eight draws, with six of the past seven games finishing level. You have to go back to 2011 for Crystal Palace’s last win over Nottingham Forest, a 1-0 victory at the City Ground in the Championship, with 11 games passing since.
Liverpool vs Man City
- Man City could win back-to-back Premier League games at Anfield for the first time.
Man City remain perfect in the Premier League in 2026/27, winning all five of their games so far. Not that anyone will be talking about their on-pitch form ahead of this game. It will all be about what has happened off-field, following the guilty verdict in their 115-charge case (being found guilty in 114 of the charges). The football calendar has had its say in having Man City visit Anfield in their first game after the verdict.
Enzo Maresca‘s men will be hoping to keep things going on the pitch, maintaining their focus in an uncertain time. And Man City have another reason for wanting to beat Liverpool this weekend. The Citizens haven’t had the best record at Anfield in the Premier League, winning three times. Those wins have been spread across 23 years, with victories in 2003, 2021 and 2026.
But their win in February 2026 — sealed by Erling Haaland — was naturally the most recent game between these two sides. So Man City could win back-to-back Premier League matches at Anfield for the first time in their history. It won’t be easy, with Liverpool still unbeaten in the league with three straight clean sheets.
Coventry vs Newcastle
- Coventry are seeking their first home Premier League goal since 2001.
Before the international break, Coventry City ended a long wait. The Sky Blues beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 to seal their first Premier League win in over 25 years. It also saw them score their first Premier League goal since 2001. Now they need to end the wait for a home goal.
While the run has only been four games, Coventry haven’t scored a Premier League home goal since 16th April 2001. John Hartson was the man to grab that goal in a 1-0 win over Sunderland, part of a team also including Chris Kirkland, Jay Bothroyd, Lee Carsley and Craig Bellamy.
Coventry ended the 2000/01 Premier League campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool and goalless draw with Bradford City at home. And they’ve started the 2026/27 season with home defeats to Hull (1-0) and Brighton (5-0). It’s not hard to see why Coventry have struggled, with a league-low 4.53 xG. Newcatsle United will provide tough opponents.
