The best Premier League stats from Gameweek 6

The 2026/27 Premier League returned from the international break with a weekend full of action.

All eyes were on Liverpool‘s game against Manchester City, with the off-field drama surrounding the latter. And Enzo Maresca‘s men kept things going on the pitch with their 3-0 victory.

Defending champions Arsenal also bounced back from defeat to keep the pressure on at the top of the table. Fans were made to wait for the action though, with six of the nine games so far still goalless at half-time.

Here are the best Premier League stats and records you might have missed from Gameweek 6.

Arsenal 2-1 Leeds

  • Both of Bruno Guimaraes’ Premier League goals for Arsenal have come off the bench, outside the box and assisted by Declan Rice

Bruno Guimaraes has had to wait for his chances since joining Arsenal from Newcastle United. But the Brazilian has still been able to make an impact off the bench, as shown against Leeds United this weekend. Arsenal were trailing their visitors when Guimaraes was preparing to come on as part of a triple change. That substitution was still made when Arsenal equalised through Riccardo Calafiori.

And it proved vital, with Guimaraes scoring the winning goal just six minutes after coming on. Nine of the Brazilian’s last 10 league goals have even given his side the lead, or equalised. And there was something familiar about his goal against Leeds. It came as a substitute from outside the box, set up by Declan Rice. Guimaraes’ first Arsenal league goal came in the exact same fashion, opening the scoring against Sunderland in September.

Aston Villa 2-2 Brentford

  • Brentford are enjoying their longest unbeaten start to a league season since 2006/07.

Brentford’s impressive run under Keith Andrews continues. The Bees were tipped for relegation last season, but Andrews had them pushing for Europe. Although they just missed out, Brentford look to be making a strong case for qualification this season. The Bees are one of just three teams still unbeaten in the Premier League this season, alongside Man City and Everton.

Four of those have been draws, including the stalemate with Aston Villa on Saturday. But Brentford are now enjoying their longest unbeaten start to a league season since 2006/07, when they went seven without defeat in League One. Brentford are also experiencing the longest active unbeaten run in the Premier League, eight games stretching to last season.

Chelsea 5-1 Bournemouth

  • Chelsea scored their five goals from just 1.07 Expected Goals, lower than Bournemouth’s 1.43.

Going 2-0 up after just 159 seconds, Chelsea experienced their quickest start to a Premier League game. It was also the third-earliest any side has gone two goals up in a Premier League game, ever. There were some nervy moments for the Blues against Bournemouth, even though they ended up 5-1 winners.

But the result could have gone the other way. Chelsea actually lost the xG battle against Bournemouth, with 1.07 to the Cherries’ 1.43. It helped that Jordan Henderson scored two goals from outside the box, with his free-kick offering just 0.01 xG. Joao Pedro’s goal offered Chelsea’s most xG from a single shot at 0.34. Bournemouth, meanwhile, had their goal from 0.82 xG, immediately following a blocked effort worth 0.56 xG.

Ipswich 2-1 Fulham

  • All three of Ipswich’s league wins this season have come from goals in the 90th minute or later.

Ipswich Town have relied on the late show this season. They went into the final five minutes of their game against Fulham trailing to a Ryan Sessegnon strike. Abdoul Ouattara scored an equaliser in the 88th minute and Ipswich fans may have been thankful for a point. But they weren’t done there. Dara O’Shea scored a header in the first minute of injury-time to secure the win for Ipswich, their third of the season.

All three wins have followed a similar story. Ipswich beat Sunderland on the opening weekend of the Premier League season thanks to Jack Clarke‘s 90th-minute winner. The Tractor Boys then beat Crystal Palace 3-2 with Zian Flemming scoring the winner in the 90th minute. And now O’Shea’s header, securing Ipswich’s third win of the season, all settled by winners in the 90th minute or later.

Sunderland 0-2 Brighton

  • Pascal Gross is the oldest player to assist in three straight Premier League games since Ryan Giggs

Pascal Gross continued his fine start to the season this weekend. The German set up Maxim De Cuyper for Brighton and Hove Albion’s opening goal in their 2-0 win over Sunderland. It’s his fourth assist of the season, more than any other Premier League player. All four assists have come in his past three games too.

Gross provided two assists in Brighton’s win over Coventry City, setting up Charalampos Kostoulas and Yasin Ayari. The German then assisted Chema Andres’ goal to round off the 3-0 win over Arsenal, before setting up De Cuyper against Sunderland. The 35-year-old is now the oldest player to assist in three straight Premier League games since Ryan Giggs (38 years, 68 days). Not bad.

Man Utd 1-1 Tottenham

  • Man Utd have endured their worst start to a league season since 1986/87.

Michael Carrick is not having a good time as Manchester United manager. The Red Devils looked on their way to a much-needed victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, leading 1-0 with their opponents down to 10 men. But a late Dominic Solanke strike earned a point for Tottenham, which their performance did deserve. It was probably a better result for the north London club, even if they remain winless and in the bottom three.

For Man Utd, it condemned them to their worst start to a league season in 40 years. The Red Devils have just six points from their opening six league games, not faring worse since collecting only four from six in 1986/87. To make matters worse, Man Utd are the first team since West Bromwich Albion in December 2017 to fail to win back-to-back Premier League games against the bottom-of-the-league side.

Crystal Palace 3-1 Nottingham Forest

  • Nottingham Forest’s eight big chances against Crystal Palace was the most by a losing Premier League side since 2012.

Nottingham Forest fans, look away now. The Tricky Trees lost the Oliver Glasner derby against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, but on paper they really should have won. And they only have themselves to blame. Forest had 44 touches in the opposition box and took 24 shots, with 2.98 xG. But they only scored one goal, coming through Dan Ndoye in the third minute.

All eyes will linger on Liam Delap‘s miss from inside the six-yard box, worth 0.63 xG, that was sent straight at Walter Benitez — who still did well to save it. But Ndoye, Chris Wood, Daniel Munoz and Delap again all missed other shots worth at least 0.2 xG. In total, Nottingham Forest had eight big chances, which is the most by a losing Premier League in a game since Blackburn Rovers had nine in a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United in February 2012.

Hull 2-2 Everton

  • Everton are unbeaten after the first six Premier League games of a season for just the third time

We’ve already mentioned Everton as one of the three teams still unbeaten in the Premier League. And it’s a rare occurrence for the Toffees. They had to come from behind to lead against Hull City, before settling for a point. While there may be some disappointment in the dropped points, and a fourth draw of the season, Everton fans can take heart. They’re unbeaten after six games of a Premier League season for just the third time.

They went seven without defeat to open the 2006/07 campaign, eventually finishing sixth and securing Uefa Cup football. Everton were also unbeaten after six games of the 2013/14 season, finishing fifth to qualify for the Europa League. However, they may have unfairly missed out on the Champions League with Man City one of the four teams ahead of them.

Liverpool 0-3 Man City

  • Enzo Maresca is just the fourth Premier League manager to win his first six games at a club.

Despite all the outside noise, Enzo Maresca did his job in helping Man City to their 3-0 win over Liverpool. It leaves the Citizens still perfect after six games, top of the table. There were many interesting stats from the game, including the fact that Man City won back-to-back league matches at Anfield for the first time since 1953. But the most significant one for Maresca is that he’s just the fourth manager to win his first six Premier League games at a club. The Italian joins compatriot Carlo Ancelotti (Chelsea in 2009/10), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (Man Utd, 2018) and his predecessor Pep Guardiola (2016/17). Interestingly, no manager has even won their first seven Premier League games with a club.

The buildup to Rayan Cherki‘s goal is also worth a mention. There were 41 passes before the goal, with every Man City player touching the ball. It was the longest passing sequence to end in a Premier League goal since September 2023 when — you guessed it — Man City had 46 passes in the build up to Phil Foden‘s strike against Nottingham Forest.
