As another weekend of football approaches, here at Squawka we have picked out the most interesting Premier League stats and records you might see in Gameweek 3.
Erling Haaland has the opportunity to add another opponent to his growing list of victims, Cole Palmer is one goal away from a Chelsea milestone, while Michael Carrick has the likes of Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti in his sights.
Here are 10 Premier League stats to look out for this weekend.
Stats you might see in Gameweek 3
Ipswich Town vs Liverpool
- Andoni Iraola could become the first Liverpool manager since Brendan Rodgers in 2012 to go his first three Premier League games without a win.
Andoni Iraola has not had the best of starts to life at Liverpool, drawing both of his matches 2-2 against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest. The Reds came from 2-1 down to rescue a point on both occasions.
But, it’s worth noting that Jurgen Klopp needed three top-flight games for his first win in 2015/16. Remarkably, the man before Klopp, Brendan Rodgers, did not win until his sixth league attempt back in 2012.

Newcastle vs Bournemouth
- Anthony Elanga could become the first Newcastle player since Andy Cole in 1994/95 to score in each of the club’s first three Premier League games of a season.
Anthony Elanga has enjoyed a superb start to the season, scoring in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool and 2-0 win at Tottenham. He’s, remarkably, already doubled his Premier League tally from last season, when he scored one goal in 32 games.
The last Newcastle player to score in each of the opening three league matchdays was Andy Cole back in 1994/95. Meanwhile, the last player to do so for any club was Alexandre Lacazette for Arsenal in 2020/21.
Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham
- Nottingham Forest can beat Tottenham for the fifth time in a row.
Nottingham Forest are hoping its third time lucky as they go in search of their first win under new manager Oliver Glasner.
History favours the Tricky Trees, who can draw on an impressive four game winning streak against Saturday’s opponents Tottenham; a run they will be looking to extend to five on the spin.
As for Spurs, they will be looking to get off the mark having lost their opening two games without scoring for the first time since 1974. They haven’t lost three in a row at the start of the season since 1979/80.
Manchester City vs Coventry City
- Erling Haaland can score against a 24th different Premier League opponent. He’s scored against 23 of the 24 clubs he has faced so far, failing only against Sunderland.
Erling Haaland got off the mark with a brace in Manchester City‘s 4-1 demolition of Crystal Palace. He’s now overtaken Ian Wright (113) in the all-time list of Premier League goalscorers.
Haaland has scored against 23 of the 24 opponents he’s faced so far during his time in the Premier League. The only exception is Sunderland. Haaland, and his new trim, will now be eyeing up goals against new boys Coventry, as he bids to make it goals against 24 different sides.
The three-time Golden Boot winner has scored 19 goals in 20 Premier League appearances against newly promoted sides.

Fulham vs Crystal Palace
- Alex Iwobi can become only the fifth player to reach 100 matches for three different clubs in the Premier League.
Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi is on the verge of joining an exclusive group of players to have made 100 Premier League appearances for three different clubs.
Iwobi has currently played 99 league games for Fulham, having previously made 123 appearances for Everton, and 100 for Arsenal.
If he features in Fulham’s clash against Crystal Palace, Iwobi will become just the fifth player to reach the milestone with three different clubs after Gary Speed (Leeds, Newcastle, Bolton), Rory Delap (Derby County, Southampton, Stoke), Gareth Barry (Aston Villa, Manchester City, Everton), and James Milner (Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool).
Brighton vs Leeds
- Brighton can become the first team on Opta record (since 2003-04) to have at least 70% possession in each of their first three games of a Premier League season.
Brighton have had a mixed start to the season. They thrashed Aston Villa 4-0, then conceded four themselves in a 4-3 defeat at Chelsea.
What has stood out is their possession statistics. Brighton had 73.1% of the ball against Villa and 74.1% against Chelsea.
The Seagulls, who face Leeds on Saturday, could now become the first team on Opta record (since 2003/04) to have at least 70% possession in each of their first three games of a Premier League season.
Brentford vs Sunderland
- If Brentford keep a clean sheet they will have more home Premier League clean sheets in 2026 (6) than 2025 (2) and 2024 (3) combined.
Brentford have kept five clean sheets in their 11 league home matches in 2026, and another shutout against Sunderland on Saturday would make it six in 12.
That would already surpass their combined home league clean-sheet tally from 2024 and 2025, when they recorded three and two respectively.
Hull City vs Aston Villa
- Hull City could become only the second newly promoted side to win their first three games of a Premier League season, after Bolton in 2001/02.
Hull City have enjoyed a stunning start to their return to the Premier League. The Tigers mauled Manchester United 2-0, before carving out a 1-0 victory over fellow new boys Coventry.
Hull will now look to join Bolton (2001/02) as only the second ever newly promoted club to secure three straight wins at the start of a Premier League season.
If they win with another shutout, then Sergej Jakirovic will become just the fourth manager to win each of his first three Premier League games with a clean sheet, after Jose Mourinho (2004), Sven-Goran Eriksson (2007), and Arne Slot (2024).
As for Aston Villa, they will be keen to pick up their first points of the season and also avoid becoming the first club to fail to have a single shot on target in their first three games (since 2003/04).
Everton vs Manchester United
- Michael Carrick could become only the sixth Premier League manager to accumulate 45 points from his first 20 games.
Michael Carrick’s Manchester United bounced back from their shock defeat to Hull with a 5-2 thrashing of Ipswich.
Carrick has now taken 42 points from his opening 19 Premier League games in charge of the club and a win against Everton would see him become only the sixth Premier League manager to accumulate 45 points from his first 20 games in charge. Jose Mourinho (49, Chelsea), Antonio Conte (49, Chelsea), John Gregory (48, Aston Villa), Arne Slot (47, Liverpool), and Carlo Ancelotti (45, Chelsea) are the other managers to achieve this.
Meanwhile, David Moyes could equal Harry Redknapp’s unwanted record of losing 24 Premier League matches against Man United.
Arsenal vs Chelsea
- Cole Palmer can become the third-fastest player to reach 50 Premier League goals for Chelsea.
We should be in store for an entertaining encounter in the capital as Arsenal and Chelsea put their 100% winning starts on the line.
History favours hosts Arsenal, who are bidding to stretch their unbeaten record in this fixture to 12 matches in all competitions. Chelsea haven’t beaten the Gunners since 2021 and have lost their last five visits to the Emirates.
However, the Blues have enjoyed a fine start under new boss Xabi Alonso, scoring three past Fulham and four against Brighton en route to back-to-back wins.
The rejuvenated Cole Palmer has scored in both games, elevating his record to 49 goals in 98 Premier League matches for Chelsea. Palmer now has the opportunity to become the third-fastest player to reach 50 Premier League goals for the Blues after Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (84) and Diego Costa (85).
