- Bruno Fernandes has scored two Premier League hat-tricks, and both have come in Manchester United‘s first home game of a season.
Bruno Fernandes was the star of the show as his hat-trick and an assist helped propel Manchester United to a 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town.
It was Fernandes’ second Premier League hat-trick for United, following his first against Leeds United in the 2021/22 season: both hat-tricks came in the club’s opening home game of the season.
Only Mo Salah (194) has more Premier League goal involvements than Fernandes (147) since his Premier League debut.
The match also saw Ipswich’s Jack Greaves score an own goal in the 56th minute. This took Man United to 80 own goals benefited, moving them ahead of Liverpool for the most in Premier League history.
Chelsea 4-3 Brighton
- Chelsea beat Brighton 4-3 despite only having 25.9% of the ball and making only 146 passes.
Chelsea made it two wins from two under Xabi Alonso after edging past Brighton 4-3 at Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham 0-2 Newcastle
- Tottenham have suffered their worst start to a season since 1974.
Tottenham have suffered their worst start to a season in 52 years after they lost 2-0 at home to Newcastle.
Spurs have lost their opening two league games without scoring for only the third time in their history, after 1947/48 (second tier) and 1974/75.
As for Newcastle, they have won more Premier League away games (14) against Tottenham than any other opponent they have faced in the competition.
Coventry 0-1 Hull
- Hull City became only the fourth promoted side to win their first two games of a Premier League season.
Hull won their second game on the spin since returning to the Premier League after they scored an 82nd minute winner away to fellow new boys Coventry. The 1-0 win came from 31.5% possession and 0.38 xG, against Coventry’s 68.5% and 1.06 xG.
The Tigers, 3rd, are one of only four Premier League clubs to enjoy a perfect winning start to the new campaign following their opening day 2-0 win against Manchester United.
Hull are also only the fourth promoted side to win their first two games of a Premier League season, after Bolton Wanderers in 2001/02, Hull themselves in 2016/17 and Huddersfield Town in 2017/18.
Liverpool 2-2 Nottingham Forest
- Andoni Iraola has become the first manager to go 20 successive Premier League matches unbeaten (W8 D12 draws) across spells at two different clubs.
Liverpool are still looking for their first win under new boss Andoni Iraola following an entertaining 2-2 draw at home to Nottingham Forest. This came after a 2-2 draw away to Newcastle in the Spaniard’s first game.
To put a slightly more positive spin on things. Iraola has become only the 12th manager to go 20 consecutive Premier League matches unbeaten (W8 D12 draws) and the first to do it across spells at two different clubs. 18 of those games came at Bournemouth, who he left in the summer.
Aston Villa 0-1 Arsenal
- Aston Villa are only the second club to fail to register a shot on target in their first two Premier League games of a season, since Opta began recording shot data in 2003/04.
Aston Villa lost 1-0 at home to defending champions Arsenal thanks to a second-half strike from Bukayo Saka. The Gunners are now two wins from two in 2nd, while Villa are 19th and pointless.
Since Opta began recording shot data in 2003/04, Aston Villa are only the second side to fail to register a shot on target in their first two Premier League games of a season — after Swansea City in 2017/18, who were relegated that year.
Meanwhile, David Raya has now kept 50 clean sheets for Arsenal in the Premier League, 13 more than any other keeper since 2023/24.
Crystal Palace 1-4 Manchester City
- Erling Haaland became just the third player to score in each of his first six Premier League appearances against a single opponent (Crystal Palace).
Manchester City slotted on their dancing shoes in a sparkling 4-1 win away to Crystal Palace. Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki both bagged braces to fire City top of the table and make it two wins from two under Enzo Maresca.
Haaland became just the third player to score in each of his first six Premier League appearances against a single opponent (Crystal Palace) after Raheem Sterling and Mo Salah (both against Bournemouth).
The Norwegian has now moved up to 114 Premier League goals, overtaking Ian Wright’s tally of 113. Steven Gerrard’s 120 is now the next milestone in Haaland’s sights.
Sunderland 1-0 Fulham
- Sunderland’s first home league win over Fulham in 17 years came without their goalkeeper, Robin Roefs, making a single save.
Substitute Wilson Isidor scored the only goal of the game to give Sunderland a 1-0 win over Fulham. It was the club’s first victory at home to the Cottages in 17 years.
Fulham had 11 attempts and 58.6% of the ball at the Stadium of Light but did not hit the target once. The Cottagers have now lost both games under new boss Alvaro Arbeloa.

Bournemouth 1-1 Everton
- Bournemouth are now 10 Premier League home games unbeaten, dating back to January 2026.
Bournemouth are still waiting for their first win under Marco Rose after being held to a 1-1 draw by Everton.
However, the Cherries can take plenty of positives from their home form, extending their unbeaten Premier League run at the Vitality Stadium to 10 games. Their last home defeat came against Arsenal, a 3-2 loss in their opening game of 2026.
That makes Bournemouth’s current 10-game home unbeaten run the longest in the Premier League, with Liverpool next on seven games without defeat on home soil.

Leeds United 1-1 Brentford
- Leeds are now unbeaten in nine successive home league games against Brentford (W3 D6).
Leeds and Brentford played out a 1-1 draw at Elland Road after Dominic Calvert-Lewin cancelled out Kevin Schade’s opener.
The result means that Leeds stretched their unbeaten home run to nine games against the Bees, six of which have been draws, including the last four clashes at Elland Road.
