Who are the favourites to win the Premier League?

Manchester City may have missed out on the Champions League yet again and, having also been knocked out of the FA Cup and failing in their EFL Cup defence, have just Premier League glory to save them from a trophy-less season. And as things stand they are on course for a fourth league title in five years.

Currently occupying top spot, with a one-point lead ahead of Liverpool, City know that a win at home to Aston Villa will seal the title.

Furthermore, with a superior goal difference to Liverpool (+6), they will also be crowned champions if they lose to Villa by less than a six-goal margin and Liverpool draw at home to Wolves.

What are Liverpool’s chances of stopping Man City retaining the title?

A Liverpool win over Wolves, combined with Man City dropping points against Steven Gerrard’s Villa, would take the title to Anfield instead of the Etihad. Liverpool could also claim the title if they draw and Man City lose by seven goals (a slightly less likely prospect).

If Man City beat Villa, however, there is nothing Liverpool can do.

  • Liverpool’s upcoming league fixture: Wolves (h)

Who is most likely to win the Premier League?

StatsPerform’s Season Predictor make Man City most likely to win the Premier League, with a probability percentage of 80.46%. The same system gives Liverpool a 19.54% chance of winning the title.

Premier League relegation odds 2021/22

As is normally the case, the three teams that earned promotion to the Premier League were the three favourites for relegation this season.

Norwich and Watford are already down, but the final spot is still to be decided.

Everton are now mathematically safe, leaving Burnley and Leeds United in a two-club battle on the final day to avoid dropping down to the Championship.

Premier League top four odds 2021/22

Chelsea’s draw with Leicester City on Thursday night saw them secure a third-place finish in the Premier League, leaving Arsenal and Tottenham to battle it out for the final Champions League qualification spot.

Tottenham currently occupy fourth place – one point above Arsenal – and know that victory in their final match of the season against Norwich (who have already been relegated) will seal their spot in the Champions League.

Arsenal, meanwhile, take on Everton knowing that nothing less than victory will condemn them to the Europa League. This is due to Tottenham’s superior goal difference (+16). A draw would only secure Champions League football for Arsenal if Spurs lose by 17 goals at Norwich… even they cannot be that Spursy, surely!
