Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions got their 2026 World Cup off to a decent start, taking four points from two games. But how far can they go in the USA, Canada and Mexico?
Harry Kane’s first-half brace set England on their way to a 4-2 victory over Croatia. The Three Lions remain in the driving seat in Group L, even after dropping points in a goalless draw against Ghana.
It’s a star-studded squad at Thomas Tuchel’s disposal, and as a former Champions League winner, he brings more pedigree to the role than Southgate — but can he translate that to the international stage and end 60 years of hurt for England this summer?
England odds to win the World Cup
England have been among the favourites to win the last handful of international tournaments they’ve competed in. Although they haven’t managed to add any silverware to the cabinet, they have come close on a handful of occasions.
Last time out at Euro 2024, it was Spain that proved too strong in the final, running out 2-1 winners.
Spain remain a shorter price than England despite their draw with Cape Verde. France are now the tournament favourites however, a 3-1 victory over Senegal.

The bookmakers clearly feel England have a strong chance and that hasn’t changed much even after the draw with Ghana.
England odds to win Group L
England started Group L with arguably the most difficult match of the tournament against Croatia and ran out 4-2 winners.
Ghana were up next and held England to a goalless draw. The Three Lions close the group against Panama, who were beaten 6-1 by England in 2018.
After taking four points from their opening two games, sitting top of the group, England are heavy favourites to take top spot. That will be based on the perceived one-sided nature of their final match against Panama.
England World Cup top goalscorer odds

Kane’s odds shortened after his brace against Croatia, but the Englishman has drifted to 10/1 following a blank last time out.
