There’s a quick turnaround as the Premier League sprints into the 26th gameweek with a round of mid-week matches.
League leaders Arsenal make the trip to in-form Brentford, Manchester City host Fulham, while Liverpool take on Sunderland, who remain the only club unbeaten on home soil.

Rosenior writing his own script
- Liam Rosenior can become only the second English manager to win their first five Premier League matches.
Liam Rosenior has collected 12 points from a possible 12 in the Premier League so far in charge of Chelsea. Only one English manager has ever won their first five Premier League games – Craig Shakespeare at Leicester City – meaning Rosenior can match this record with a win at home to Leeds on Tuesday.
Rosenior, who has won both league home games, would simultaneously become the first Blues boss to win his first three at Stamford Bridge since Maurizio Sarri in September 2018.
Meanwhile, if Leeds claim a shock win at Stamford Bridge, it will be their first league double over the Blues since they won the league title in 1991-92.
Goals guaranteed in North London
- If there’s a goal in Tottenham vs Newcastle, it will extend this fixture’s Premier League record to 62 matches without a goalless draw.
Goals are guaranteed when Tottenham and Newcastle lock horns.
After all, this is the most-played fixture in Premier League history without a single goalless draw. That’s right, there’s never been a 0-0. Not once in their previous 61 duels in the competition.
It also so happens to be the fourth-highest-scoring fixture in Premier League history, with 196 goals, behind Liverpool vs Tottenham (209), Arsenal vs Liverpool (199), and Liverpool vs Newcastle (198).
Everton bid to double-up
- Everton are looking to complete their first league double over Bournemouth.
Everton moved up to 8th in the table following their late win away to Fulham, meaning they are now only two points behind rivals Liverpool in 6th. They can actually jump above their neighbours – for 24 hours at least – with a win at home to Bournemouth on Tuesday.
The Toffees head into the match at the Hill Dickinson Stadium looking to complete their first-ever league double over the Cherries following their 1-0 win on the south coast back in December.
Utd target 5 on the spin
- Manchester United can win five successive Premier League matches for the first time since 22-23.
Michael Carrick has enjoyed the perfect start at Old Trafford, masterminding four wins from four games against Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, and Tottenham.
United now have the opportunity to record five consecutive league wins in a single season for the first time since 2022-23, when Erik ten Hag’s side put together a five-game winning run between November 2022 and January 2023.
If Carrick achieves this feat, it would also mean that a certain Red Devils fan can at long last go for a haircut.
Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes has registered eight away assists this season – the joint-most by a Man United player in a single campaign, alongside Ryan Giggs in 2001–02 – a record he can claim outright with another assist at West Ham.
City’s historic streak
- Manchester City are aiming to stretch their winning run over Fulham to 20 matches – the longest streak one club has ever enjoyed against the same opponent in English football history.
Manchester City revived their title challenge with a last-gasp win away to defending champions Liverpool. On Wednesday, they can move to within three points of Arsenal – for 24 hours at least – if they beat an opponent they simply love playing against.
City have won 19 consecutive matches against Fulham in all competitions, the longest winning streak one team has enjoyed against another in English football history, with 16 of those victories coming in the Premier League.
Adding to Fulham’s challenge, City are unbeaten in their last 55 midweek Premier League home games (W47 D8), dating back 16 years.
Stadium of fallen champions
- Sunderland are looking to win at home to the defending Premier League champions for the third time in a row (Chelsea in May 2016) and Leicester City in December 2016).
Sunderland remain the only Premier League side yet to lose at home this season (W7 D5), which is the longest unbeaten home run by a promoted club from the start of a top-flight campaign since Nottingham Forest in 1977-78.
The Black Cats have also developed a knack for unsettling the defending Premier League champions, winning three of their last five home games against reigning title holders, including the most recent two against Chelsea (May 2016) and Leicester City (December 2016). Only six teams have ever managed three or more consecutive home wins against defending champions, most recently Chelsea between 2016 and 2020.
For Liverpool, a failure to win at the Stadium of Light would see them go five matches without a victory against promoted sides for the first time since 1981.
Villa Park joy to jinx
- Aston Villa could lose three straight Premier League home games for the first time since 2020.
Aston Villa’s momentum has stalled a little following a return of two wins, two draws, and three defeats from their last seven games.
Villa, beaten at home by Everton and Brentford in their last two outings, are battling to avoid an unwanted slice of history. Another defeat at Villa Park would make them the first top-flight side ever to lose three consecutive home games after winning their previous eight on the spin.
If Villa do lose to an out-of-form Brighton, it will be the first time they’ve lost three straight league home games since November 2020 under Dean Smith.
Parker’s capital punishment
- Scott Parker has never won a Premier League away game in London, a rotten record he could extend to nine games.
Burnley desperately need to find a spark soon, as they are currently just sleepwalking towards relegation back down to the Championship.
The Clarets make the trip down to Selhurst Park winless in 16 league matches, which leaves them 11 points adrift of safety with just 13 games remaining. A failure to beat Crystal Palace on Wednesday would see the club equal their longest-ever top-flight winless run of 17 games, set back in 1989-90.
The warning signs are ominous for Burnley’s under-pressure boss Scott Parker, who has never won a Premier League match in London in eight attempts (D3 L5). Only Neil Warnock (16), Colin Todd (10, Steve Kean and Nigel Pearson (both 9) have endured longer winless away runs in the capital.
Travely shy Wolves
- Wolves could extend their winless away run to 15 matches, which would be their worst barren patch on the road since 2003-04.
Wolves head to Nottingham Forest still seeking their first away win of the season. The rock-bottom Midlands club have collected just three points (all draws) from a possible 36 on the road this season, while their last win away from home stretches back 14 games since they won at Old Trafford in May.
Should that barren run extend to 15 games on Wednesday, it would mark Wolves’ worst winless streak away from home since the 2003-04 Premier League season, when they failed to win any of their 19 league matches on the road (D7 L12).
Gyokeres hitting his stride
- Viktor Gyokeres could become the first Arsenal player to score back-to-back Premier League braces since Bukayo Saka in February 2024.
Viktor Gyokeres has finally found his rhythm at Arsenal, scoring five goals in all competitions in 2026, more than any other Premier League player.
The Swede struck twice in the 3-0 home win over Sunderland and now heads to in-form Brentford looking to keep the momentum going. Gyokeres, who has eight league goals on the board, could become the first Gunners player since Bukayo Saka in February 2024 to score back-to-back Premier League braces.
