There we have it. The 2024-25 Premier League season is over.
Mo Salah wrapped up all the individual accolades, claiming the Golden Boot and Playmaker Award as well as the Premier League Player of the Season and Football Writers’ Association’s Men’s Footballer of the Year. And he’s the highest-rated player per our Squawka Score for the 2024-25 Premier League season.
Salah’s one of four Liverpool players in our Team of the Season, with Arsenal the only other team to have more than one representative.
We’ve used our Squawka Score to determine the 11 picks, based on the statistical leaders for metrics relevant to their positions — among players with at least 1,710 minutes played (50% of the season). And, as ever, we’ve thrown in an honourable mention XI for good measure.

GK: Jordan Pickford (Everton)
- Player rating: 71%
Jordan Pickford was one of a few goalkeepers to keep 10+ clean sheets in the Premier League in 2024-25. His clean sheets came at an average of 0.32 per 90 minutes, and he averaged just 1.16 goals conceded per 90. The Englishman made 122 saves in total at an average of 3.21 per 90, with 70.52% save percentage. Pickford also prevented 0.19 goals per 90, with only one goalkeeper with at least 1,710 minutes played preventing more.
Honourable mention: Matz Sels (68%)
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)
- Player rating: 76%
Trent Alexander-Arnold has played his final game for Liverpool — for now at least. And he ends his time at Anfield with a place in our Premier League Team of the Season. The Englishman ended the season with 0.25 Expected Assists per 90 in the Premier League, placing him in the 95th percentile and above among full-backs — it’s a similar case of his 0.57 big chances created per 90. Alexander-Arnold upped his game defensively too, winning 1.89 tackles per 90 with 1.17 interceptions.
Honourable mention: Pedro Porro (75%)
CB: Gabriel (Arsenal)
- Player rating: 75%
He didn’t get to finish the season due to injury, but Gabriel was phenomenal for Arsenal throughout the campaign. The Brazilian won 64.79% of his ground duels and lost just 0.15 challenges per 90, with 0.08 last man tackles. He was part of an Arsenal defence that conceded 0.91 non-penalty Expected Goals per 90 and conceded 0.84 goals. On the ball, Gabriel completed 5.82 passes into the final third per 90 and completed 75.5% of his total forward passes.
Honourable mention: Nikola Milenkovic (72%)
CB: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
- Player rating: 72%
It’s no surprise to see Virgil van Dijk in this Team of the Season, as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League. The Dutchman won 72.12% of his aerial duels across the season, with only one centre-back winning more in the campaign. Van Dijk also ranks second for his 7.95 passes into the final third completed per 90, but no centre-back bettered his 9.86 passes into the opposition half completed.
Honourable mention: Lisandro Martinez (69%)

LB: Josko Gvardiol (Man City)
- Player rating: 70%
Josko Gvardiol has played in a few roles for Manchester City this season, but he’s been their main left-back. And the top left-back in the Premier League. Gvardiol’s involvement further up the pitch helps his Score, featuring in 2.83% of Man City’s sequences that ended in a shot. That might not seem like much, but it places Gvardiol in the 95th percentile and above among full-backs. Gvardiol also won 63.58% of his ground duels in the Premier League, the best rate of any left-back with at least 1,710 minutes played.
Honourable mention: Lewis Hall (69%)

Honourable mention: Alexis Mac Allister (66%)
DM: Thomas Partey (Arsenal)

It was never going to be anyone else. Mo Salah has been on another level this season, averaging 0.77 goals and 0.45 intentional assists per 90. Honourable mention: Bukayo Saka (77%)

No.10: Matheus Cunha (Wolves)
- Player rating: 81%
Matheus Cunha’s time at Wolverhampton Wanderers looks to be up. But he’s bowed out with a Team-of-the-Season-earning campaign. The Brazilian averaged 0.52 goals per 90 in the Premier League in 2024-25, from 1.52 shots on target per 90. Cunha ranked in the 95th percentile and above for goals from outside the box too, at 0.17 per 90. Honourable mention: Cole Palmer (76%)
