10. Nicolas Jackson

  • GW22 fixture: Wolves (H)
  • Predicted points: 5.2

Chelsea duo Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer have become one of the deadliest duos in the Premier League, combining for more goals since the start of 2023/24 than any other duo, including last time out against Bournemouth. A home game against Wolves looks attractive, especially since they won 2-6 at Molineux, with Jackson providing a double-digit haul in that game.

9. Amad Diallo

  • GW22 fixture: Brighton (H)
  • Predicted points: 5.3

Manchester United’s Amad Diallo is the second-most transferred in player going into FPL Gameweek 22, helped by the hat-trick he scored in the 3-1 win against Southampton on Thursday evening. Those returns take him up to 13 goal involvements for the campaign: six goals and seven assists from just 14 starts. He’s now recognised as one of the best value attackers in the game.

8. Bruno Fernandes

  • GW22 fixture: Brighton (H)
  • Predicted points: 5.3

Bruno Fernandes failed to provide a goal involvement for the 233,459 managers who captained him against Southampton, but there was a silver lining. The Portuguese playmaker scooped up two bonus points, having had five shots on goal and created two chances. Man United will be looking to get another three points on the board for the visit of Brighton this weekend.

7. Phil Foden

  • GW22 fixture: Ipswich (A)
  • Predicted points: 5.5

Manchester City’s Phil Foden is among the form players in the game, with four goals and one assist in the last five gameweeks. He’s started all of the last six under Pep Guardiola and now seems to be thriving after a challenging start to the season. There’s hope that he can continue in this vein and begin to replicate his form of 2023-24, where he produced 27 goal involvements.

6. Kevin De Bruyne

  • GW22 fixture: Ipswich (A)
  • Predicted points: 5.6

With two wins and two draws in their last four gameweeks, Man City feel like they are a side worth investing in again, with playmaker Kevin De Bruyne a worthy option. He’s finally back to full fitness, starting all of Man City’s last three league games and significantly completing 90 minutes on each occasion. He scored 12 points in the reverse fixture against Ipswich Town, with one goal and one assist.

5. Chris Wood

  • GW22 fixture: Southampton (H)
  • Predicted points: 6.2

Chris Wood provides a viable differential captain pick ahead of the visit of Southampton, having produced three goals and one assist in the last four gameweeks. He’s now on 13 goals for the season, with only four players having a better goal tally than him. Southampton have just one point from their last eight league games, conceding 22 goals in this spell. Wood is also on penalties.

4. Alexander Isak

  • GW22 fixture: Bournemouth (H)
  • Predicted points: 7.1

Alexander Isak is closing in on Jamie Vardy’s record of scoring in eleven consecutive Premier League games, with nine the next target to hit against Bournemouth in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off. Isak has racked up a remarkable 13 goal involvements in the last eight gameweeks, outscoring Mohamed Salah in this period. But, notably, he has played one more game than the Egyptian.

3. Erling Haaland

  • GW22 fixture: Ipswich (A)
  • Predicted points: 7.3

Erling Haaland has a new contract to celebrate when he travels to Ipswich on Sunday, as he looks to bridge the two-goal gap to Mohamed Salah in the Golden Boot race. Haaland scored a hat-trick in the reverse of this fixture, his biggest return of the season to date. He comes into this game with a glimmer of form returning, having scored three goals across the last four gameweeks.

2. Mohamed Salah

  • GW22 fixture: Brentford (A)
  • Predicted points: 7.8

For the second consecutive gameweek, Mohamed Salah is pipped by Cole Palmer in the AI rankings, despite reaching the 200 point barrier in record time this season and boasting 12 double digit hauls. Liverpool have scored 15 goals in their last four away trips, while Brentford are without a home clean sheet this season. Salah scored in the reverse fixture, which ended as a 2-0 win for Liverpool.

1. Cole Palmer

  • GW22 fixture: Wolves (H)
  • Predicted points: 8.2

Cole Palmer tops the AI rankings as the best captain pick for FPL Gameweek 22, having scored three goals in the last four gameweeks, contributing to 75% of his team’s tally in this spell. Chelsea hit six in the reverse fixture, with Palmer netting four goal involvements on that occasion for a 17-point return. He has eight double-digit hauls this season, with set pieces including penalties key to this output.
