We are now four games into the 2022/23 EuroLeague season and at the top of the table one side remains perfect, leading a pretty tight group below them. But at the other end there are two sides still without a win, and they meet here on Friday night. The Serbian side had the toughest start to the new season up against defending champions Anadolu Efes and lost as expected, following that defeat up with a narrow loss to Panathinaikos. But any hopes of building momentum from the positive performance were quickly washed away as Crvena zvezda fell to an 17-point defeat to Baskonia. Last time out it was another heavy defeat to a Spanish side, this time against Real Madrid by 16 points.
Bayern are directly above their hosts with a points difference of -28, but it has still been a start to forget for the German club. Their four results this season have come in one of two different varieties – either losing by the narrowest of margins, or being comfortably beaten.
In the season opener, Bayern were beaten 74-62 by Fenerbahce who are the last perfect team in EuroLeague, but they only lost to Virtus Bologna in their next game by three points. They then fell to another double-figures defeat to Barcelona before losing by two points to Olimpia Milano having gone into the final quarter three points up. The German side will probably feel more confident of ending their losing start on Friday.
