St. Louis Blues 2026-27 season outlook
Written 28 September 2026. St. Louis open 2026-27 at Dallas on 2 October with a new captain and a new general manager. Robert Thomas was named the club’s 25th captain on 2 September, and Alexander Steen took over as general manager on 30 June from Doug Armstrong, who stays on as president of hockey operations.
Last season the Blues went 37-33-12 for 86 points, fifth in the Central and four points out of a wild-card place. They were 14th in the West when they traded captain Brayden Schenn and Justin Faulk on 6 March, then went 14-4-3. Thomas led them with 64 points, and Jimmy Snuggerud had 51 and made the All-Rookie Team.
Armstrong reshaped the forwards in his final days as general manager. Jordan Kyrou went to Washington on 23 June for Connor McMichael, a prospect and the 16th pick, and three days later the 15th and 29th picks brought Mason McTavish from Anaheim. Defenceman Brandon Carlo came from Toronto for two third-round picks, Tynan Lawrence was drafted 11th and Ross Johnston signed.
Joel Hofer made 43 starts to Jordan Binnington’s 39 and went 24-13-5 with a .910 save percentage, against Binnington’s 13-20-7 and .873. Binnington, the franchise leader in wins, is in the last year of his contract. Two defencemen are hurt: Logan Mailloux is day-to-day with an upper-body injury from the preseason finale at Chicago on 26 September, and Tyler Tucker is out with a knee injury.
The power play ranked 26th and the penalty kill 25th last season, and the Blues replaced assistant coaches Claude Julien and Mike Weber with Greg Cronin and Vinny Prospal. Keith Tkachuk, now an adviser to Armstrong, enters the Hockey Hall of Fame on 9 November. On Bet99’s July board the Blues were +25000 for the Stanley Cup, joint 28th of 32.
St. Louis Blues schedule 2026-27
The next five Blues games, the last five results and the full 84-game regular season, updated twice a day. Use the tabs to switch between them. Times are Eastern, TV is the Canadian broadcaster listed by the NHL, and “2nd night” marks the second game of a back-to-back. The Blues play 12 back-to-backs this season, and December is the busiest stretch with 15 games.
Where to watch Blues games in Canada
Counting the NHL’s own listings for the 84 regular-season games, 13 on Sportsnet+, 8 on Sportsnet, 4 on TVA Sports, 3 on Sportsnet 360, 1 on Sportsnet One and 1 on RDSI. Regional listings add 4 on TSN3, 4 on Sportsnet West, 3 on RDS, 2 on TSN2, 2 on Sportsnet Pacific, 1 on TSN5 and 1 on Sportsnet Ontario. 43 games have no Canadian network in the NHL’s listings. A game can appear on more than one channel, so the counts overlap, and listings change through the season.
Of the 43 games without a Canadian network, 42 are the Blues’ US regional broadcasts and one is a US national game. In Canada, Rogers holds the out-of-market rights, so those games stream on Sportsnet+ Premium, which is sold on its own rather than through a TV package, and NHL Centre Ice through a TV provider is the other route. Blackouts apply.
St. Louis Blues roster 2026-27
The current Blues roster has 27 players, 14 of them born in Canada. Until opening night this is the club’s training-camp list, so it shrinks as players are sent down before the season starts. The status column shows any player on the injury report.

St. Louis Blues odds and how the market sees them
The Blues markets with the most depth are the season-long futures: the Stanley Cup, the Western Conference, the Central Division, a regular-season points total and a yes-or-no price on making the playoffs. On Bet99’s board on 30 July 2026 the Blues were +25000 to win the Stanley Cup, joint 28th of the 32 teams on the board, level with Chicago, after missing the playoffs by four points. Our Stanley Cup odds page carries the current prices for all 32 teams.
Three things move a Blues price during the season. The starting goalie matters most, and the injury section above tracks him. The schedule is next: the Blues play 12 back-to-backs, and second nights are where tired legs and backup goalies show up in the lines. Then there is form, which our power rankings measure each week, and the race itself in the playoff picture. Picks for the weekend slate are in our Saturday predictions column.

St. Louis Blues history
St. Louis was the last of the six expansion teams chosen for 1967-68, picked over Baltimore at the urging of the Chicago Black Hawks’ owners, who owned the old St. Louis Arena. Sid Salomon Jr., his son Sid Salomon III and Robert Wolfson were the first owners, and the club took its name from Saint Louis Blues, the W. C. Handy song. With all six new teams in the West Division, coach Scotty Bowman and goalies Glenn Hall and Jacques Plante took the Blues to the Final in each of their first three seasons. Montréal swept them in 1968, when Hall was playoff MVP, and in 1969, and Boston swept them in 1970.
The club nearly left. Ralston Purina, the owner since 1977, agreed in 1983 to sell to a group planning a move to Saskatoon, but the NHL’s governors voted it down 15-3 and a St. Louis group led by Harry Ornest bought the club that July. From 1979-80 the Blues made the playoffs 25 seasons running, with Bernie Federko and Brian Sutter, then Brett Hull, Al MacInnis and Chris Pronger, and won the Presidents’ Trophy in 1999-2000, but never reached the Final. Last in the NHL in early January 2019, weeks after Craig Berube replaced Mike Yeo as coach, they won the Cup behind rookie goalie Jordan Binnington and playoff MVP Ryan O’Reilly, beating Boston 4-1 in Game 7 in Boston on 12 June 2019.
The Blues have won one playoff series since, against Minnesota in 2022. They missed the playoffs in 2023 and 2024, and Jim Montgomery replaced Drew Bannister as coach on 24 November 2024. That season they took the West’s second wild card with 96 points and led Winnipeg 3-1 late in Game 7 of the first round, but the Jets tied it with 2.2 seconds left and won 4-3 in double overtime on 4 May 2025. In 2025-26 they traded captain Brayden Schenn in March and finished 37-33-12, four points out, missing the playoffs for the third time in four seasons.
Most famous player: Brett Hull
Calgary traded Hull to St. Louis on 7 March 1988, and from 1989-90 to 1991-92 he led the NHL in goals three seasons running, with 72, 86 and 70. The 86 are still the club record and the most by a right winger in NHL history. That season he scored 50 goals in 49 games and won the Hart Trophy as the league’s most valuable player.
Named captain in 1992, he scored 527 goals in 744 games for the Blues, still the franchise record, before leaving for Dallas as a free agent in 1998. He won the Cup with the Stars in 1999 and with Detroit in 2002 and finished with 741 NHL goals, fifth in league history. The Blues retired his No. 16 on 5 December 2006, the Hockey Hall of Fame inducted him in 2009, and in 2017 the NHL named him one of its 100 greatest players. Bernie Federko holds the club records for games, assists and points.
Brett Hull’s Blues totals, from the NHL’s official statistics: 744 games, 527 goals, 409 assists and 936 points.
Stanley Cups
The Blues have won one Stanley Cup, in 2019. They have lost the Final three times since 1927, most recently in 1970.
