Florida Panthers 2026-27 season outlook
Written 28 September 2026. Florida open 2026-27 in Raleigh on 29 September, the night Carolina raise their 2026 Stanley Cup banner. It is set to be Aleksander Barkov’s first NHL game since the Cup-clinching win over Edmonton on 17 June 2025, after knee surgery cost him all of last season, and the first NHL game in which Brady and Matthew Tkachuk play together.
The Panthers went 40-38-4 for 84 points last season, finished seventh in the Atlantic and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2019, eliminated by a 9-4 loss in Pittsburgh on 4 April. Sam Reinhart led them with 29 goals and 61 points in 64 games. Brad Marchand scored 27 goals in 52 games before a lower-body injury ended his season in March, and Matthew Tkachuk had 34 points in 31 games after missing the first 47.
Most of the changes came in 11 days from 21 June. Brady Tkachuk arrived from Ottawa that day for the ninth and 25th picks in the 2026 draft, a 2029 first-rounder and a 2027 second, and Radko Gudas returned from Anaheim in a swap of rights for A.J. Greer and signed for six years. Garnet Hathaway came from Philadelphia and Lars Eller and Alexander Petrovic signed as free agents, while Evan Rodrigues and Jesper Boqvist went to New Jersey in the trade for Jacob Markstrom and Mackie Samoskevich was traded to Seattle. With both first-round picks gone, Florida’s first 2026 selection was Simas Ignatavicius, 40th overall.
Sergei Bobrovsky, in goal for both Cups, signed with Toronto, and Daniil Tarasov left for Detroit. Markstrom, 36, who began his career in Florida, is likely to be the No. 1 after going 23-19-1 with a .883 save percentage for New Jersey, with Akira Schmid, acquired from Vegas, as his partner. Brad Marchand will spend October rehabbing after off-season surgery, and Jonah Gadjovich is out indefinitely. Brady Tkachuk is day-to-day after sitting out the third period of a preseason game in Raleigh on 22 September, but Maurice expects him to be ready for the opener.
NHL.com’s review of last season put the slide down to injuries, goaltending and fatigue: Maurice expected the man-games lost to pass 500, and Florida had played 314 games in the previous three seasons, the most by any team over three seasons in NHL history. Barkov tested the knee at the World Championship in May, captaining Finland to gold with 11 points in 10 games, and 15 of the 35 players in NHL.com’s preseason poll picked the Panthers to win the Cup. On Bet99’s July board the Panthers were +640 for the Stanley Cup, first of 32.
Florida Panthers schedule 2026-27
The next five Panthers games, the last five results and the full 84-game regular season, updated twice a day. Use the tabs to switch between them. Times are Eastern, TV is the Canadian broadcaster listed by the NHL, and “2nd night” marks the second game of a back-to-back. The Panthers play 14 back-to-backs this season, and September and October is the busiest stretch with 14 games.
Where to watch Panthers games in Canada
Counting the NHL’s own listings for the 84 regular-season games, 20 on TVA Sports, 18 on Sportsnet, 10 on Sportsnet+, 7 on Sportsnet One, 3 on TVA Sports 2, 1 on Prime Video, 1 on RDSI and 1 on Sportsnet 360. Regional listings add 4 on TSN2, 3 on RDS, 2 on Sportsnet Pacific, 2 on TSN3, 2 on TSN5, 2 on TSN4, 1 on Sportsnet West and 1 on RDS2. 32 games have no Canadian network in the NHL’s listings. A game can appear on more than one channel, so the counts overlap, and listings change through the season.
Of the 32 games without a Canadian network, 28 are the Panthers’ US regional broadcasts and four are US national games. In Canada, Rogers holds the out-of-market rights, so those games stream on Sportsnet+ Premium, which is sold on its own rather than through a TV package, and NHL Centre Ice through a TV provider is the other route. Blackouts apply.

Florida Panthers odds and how the market sees them
The Panthers markets with the most depth are the season-long futures: the Stanley Cup, the Eastern Conference, the Atlantic Division, a regular-season points total and a yes-or-no price on making the playoffs. On Bet99’s board on 30 July 2026 the Panthers were +640 to win the Stanley Cup, the shortest price of the 32 teams on the board, despite an 84-point season outside the playoffs. Our Stanley Cup odds page carries the current prices for all 32 teams.
Three things move a Panthers price during the season. The starting goalie matters most, and the injury section above tracks him. The schedule is next: the Panthers play 14 back-to-backs, and second nights are where tired legs and backup goalies show up in the lines. Then there is form, which our power rankings measure each week, and the race itself in the playoff picture. Picks for the weekend slate are in our Saturday predictions column.

Florida Panthers history
Wayne Huizenga, the Blockbuster Video magnate, was awarded an NHL franchise for Miami on 10 December 1992, the same day the Walt Disney Company got the team that became the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Named after the endangered Florida panther, the Panthers started in 1993-94 at Miami Arena with Bill Torrey as president, Bobby Clarke as general manager and Roger Neilson as coach, and tied their first game 4-4 in Chicago on 6 October 1993. Their 83 points that season were then an NHL record for an expansion team. In October 1995 Scott Mellanby killed a rat in the dressing room and scored twice that night, fans began throwing rubber rats on the ice, and the third-year club beat Boston, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh to reach the 1996 Final. Colorado swept it, ending the series with Uwe Krupp’s goal in the third overtime of Game 4 in Miami on 10 June 1996.
The Panthers moved to Sunrise in 1998, and Pavel Bure, acquired from Vancouver in January 1999, led the NHL with 58 goals in 1999-2000 and 59 in 2000-01. Roberto Luongo, acquired from the Islanders in 2000, played 11 seasons in goal over two spells, but after the 2000 playoffs Florida missed the next 10 postseasons and did not win another series until 2022. Bill Zito became general manager in September 2020, the 2021-22 team won the Presidents’ Trophy with 122 points, and that summer the club hired Paul Maurice and traded Jonathan Huberdeau to Calgary for Matthew Tkachuk. As the East’s eighth seed in 2023, the Panthers beat the 135-point Bruins and reached the Final, where Vegas beat them in five games. Edmonton came back from 3-0 down in the 2024 Final, but Florida won Game 7 2-1 at home on 24 June, Sam Reinhart scoring the winner, for the club’s first Cup. The Panthers beat the Oilers again in 2025, clinching in six games with a 5-1 win on 17 June in which Reinhart scored four goals, and Sam Bennett won the Conn Smythe Trophy.
The bid for a third straight title ended early. Captain Aleksander Barkov tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee at training camp and missed all of 2025-26, Matthew Tkachuk missed the first 47 games after surgery, and Seth Jones, Brad Marchand, Sam Reinhart and Anton Lundell were among the others who missed time. The Panthers were eliminated on 4 April 2026 and finished 40-38-4, the first defending champions since the 2014-15 Los Angeles Kings to miss the playoffs. Carolina, whom Florida had beaten in the 2023 and 2025 conference finals, won the 2026 Stanley Cup by beating Vegas in six games.
Most famous player: Aleksander Barkov
The Panthers drafted Barkov second overall in 2013, behind Nathan MacKinnon, and he made his NHL debut that autumn as the league’s youngest player, aged 18. Named the club’s 10th captain on 17 September 2018, he won the Lady Byng Trophy that season, and in 2021 he became the first Panther to win the Selke Trophy as the NHL’s best defensive forward. On 20 March 2023 he passed Jonathan Huberdeau as the franchise’s career points leader.
He won the Selke again in 2024 and 2025, when he also became the first player in NHL history to win it and the King Clancy Trophy in the same season, and he captained the Panthers to both of their Stanley Cups. A knee injury at training camp cost him all of 2025-26, and he came back at the World Championship in May 2026, captaining Finland to gold. He leads the franchise in regular-season goals, assists and points, and in playoff games, assists and points.
Aleksander Barkov’s Panthers totals, from the NHL’s official statistics: 804 games, 286 goals, 496 assists and 782 points.

The Panthers have won two Stanley Cups: 2024, 2025. They have lost the Final two times since 1927, most recently in 2023.
