Winnipeg Jets 2026-27 season outlook
Written 24 September 2026. Winnipeg start 2026-27 with the season’s biggest unresolved story. Connor Hellebuyck made his trade request public in August, did not report to training camp and was suspended on 16 September. General manager Kevin Cheveldayoff said the next day there was no timeline for a trade.
The goaltending question matters because the fall was so fast. The Jets won the Presidents’ Trophy with 116 points in 2024-25, then missed the playoffs on 82 last season. Hellebuyck saved .895 in 57 games. Stuart Skinner, signed in July on a two-year deal after his years in Edmonton, is the other experienced option.
The skaters are largely intact. Mark Scheifele had 103 points and Kyle Connor scored 39 goals, and Cole Perfetti signed a five-year extension in July. Jonathan Toews retired in June after one season at home, and Gustav Nyquist and Eric Comrie moved on. Viggo Björck, the eighth overall pick, is in camp.
Scott Arniel stays behind the bench for a third season, and Adam Lowry remains captain. Elias Salomonsson is out until late October with a shoulder injury.
On Bet99’s July board the Jets were +20000 for the Stanley Cup, fifth of the Canadian teams. That price came before the Hellebuyck request went public.
Winnipeg Jets schedule 2026-27
The next five Jets games, the last five results and the full 84-game regular season, updated twice a day. Use the tabs to switch between them. Times are Eastern with Central time alongside, TV is the Canadian broadcaster listed by the NHL, and “2nd night” marks the second game of a back-to-back. The Jets play 9 back-to-backs this season, and November is the busiest stretch with 15 games.
Where to watch Jets games in Canada
Counting the NHL’s own listings for the 84 regular-season games, 9 on Sportsnet+, 8 on Sportsnet, 5 on TVA Sports, 4 on Prime Video, 3 on Sportsnet One and 2 on TVA Sports 2. Regional listings add 14 on Sportsnet West and 2 on Sportsnet Pacific. 41 games do not list a Canadian network yet. A game can appear on more than one channel, so the counts overlap, and listings change through the season.
Games the NHL lists without a Canadian network are regional broadcasts on TSN3. The Jets’ region covers Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nunavut, the Northwest Territories and part of northwestern Ontario, and the club says most of its games are on TSN3 this season. TSN has not posted its 2026-27 game-by-game list yet.
Winnipeg Jets roster 2026-27
The current Jets roster has 32 players, 15 of them born in Canada. Until opening night this is the club’s training-camp list, so it shrinks as players are sent down before the season starts. The status column shows any player on the injury report.

Winnipeg Jets odds and how the market sees them
The Jets markets with the most depth are the season-long futures: the Stanley Cup, the Western Conference, the Central Division, a regular-season points total and a yes-or-no price on making the playoffs. On Bet99’s board on 30 July 2026 the Jets were +20000 to win the Stanley Cup, fifth of the seven Canadian teams, ahead of only Calgary and Vancouver, and set before Connor Hellebuyck’s trade request became public. Our Stanley Cup odds page carries the current prices for all 32 teams.
Three things move a Jets price during the season. The starting goalie matters most, and the injury section above tracks him. The schedule is next: the Jets play 9 back-to-backs, and second nights are where tired legs and backup goalies show up in the lines. Then there is form, which our power rankings measure each week, and the race itself in the playoff picture. Picks for the weekend slate are in our Saturday predictions column.

Winnipeg Jets history
The Jets began in 1972 as a founding member of the World Hockey Association. On 27 June that year Bobby Hull left the Chicago Black Hawks for Winnipeg on a record signing bonus. The new league had its star. Hull later formed the Hot Line with Swedish forwards Anders Hedberg and Ulf Nilsson. The Jets won the Avco World Trophy in 1976, 1978 and 1979, then joined the NHL in 1979 with Edmonton, Quebec and Hartford.
NHL life started hard. Nine wins in 1980-81 brought Dale Hawerchuk with the first pick in 1981, and he won the Calder Trophy the next spring. The Jets made the playoffs 11 times in the next 15 seasons but lost all six of their series with Edmonton between 1983 and 1990. Teemu Selänne scored 76 goals in 1992-93, still the NHL rookie record. A weak Canadian dollar and an arena without luxury suites hurt the club’s finances. It played its last home game on 28 April 1996, a 4-1 loss to Detroit, and moved to Phoenix.
Today’s club began as the Atlanta Thrashers in 1999. Atlanta reached the playoffs once, in 2007, and was swept by the New York Rangers. True North bought the team in 2011, moved it to Winnipeg and revived the Jets name. The new Jets won their first playoff series in 2018 and reached the Western Conference Final. They won the Presidents’ Trophy with 116 points in 2024-25. The fall was steep. In 2025-26 they missed the playoffs on 82 points. No version of the club has reached a Stanley Cup Final. On 24 September 2026 the NHL added the 1979-1996 records to the Jets’ history, which covers the Thrashers too but not the Coyotes’ Arizona years.
Most famous player: Dale Hawerchuk
Dale Hawerchuk is the Jets’ all-time leader in goals and points. Winnipeg drafted him first overall in 1981, and he won the Calder Trophy the next spring with 45 goals and 103 points. In 1984-85 he scored a career-high 53 goals, reached 130 points and finished second to Wayne Gretzky in the Hart Trophy vote. He wore the C for five seasons. In nine seasons with Winnipeg he had 379 goals and 929 points in 713 games.
Winnipeg traded him to Buffalo at the 1990 draft, in a deal that sent Phil Housley and Scott Arniel, now the Jets’ head coach, the other way. He entered the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001 and later coached Mark Scheifele for three seasons with the OHL’s Barrie Colts. Hawerchuk died of cancer on 18 August 2020, aged 57, and a bronze statue of him has stood at True North Square since October 2022. Since 24 September 2026 his marks have been Jets records again. Scheifele is chasing them now.
Dale Hawerchuk’s Jets totals, from the NHL’s official statistics: 713 games, 379 goals, 550 assists and 929 points.
Stanley Cups
The Jets have never won the Stanley Cup.
Arenas
| Arena | Years | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Winnipeg Arena | 1972-1996 | Home of the original Jets in the WHA and the NHL. It opened in 1955 and was demolished in 2006. |
| Philips Arena, Atlanta | 1999-2011 | The Thrashers’ home for all 12 seasons. |
| Canada Life Centre | 2011-present |
Canada Life Centre holds 15,225 for hockey. It opened in November 2004 as the MTS Centre, became Bell MTS Place in 2017 and took its current name in 2021.
Retired numbers
The current Jets have retired no numbers. They honour their greats in the Jets Hall of Fame instead: Teemu Selänne’s 13 and Teppo Numminen’s 27 went to the rafters as Hall of Fame banners in November 2022, and both numbers are still worn.
