Victor Wembanyama is the overwhelming favourite in the NBA DPOY odds, at -450 to -400. Toronto’s Scottie Barnes is second at +1400 to +2000, level on the middle price with Detroit’s Ausar Thompson. Payton Pritchard leads the Sixth Man market and Ty Jerome the Most Improved.
Below are all three boards as we checked them on 3 November 2026, the live races from this season’s box scores, the rules that decide who can win, and every recent winner. 19+ (18+ in AB, MB and QC).

Who can win, and how the awards are decided
The 65-game rule applies to Defensive Player of the Year and Most Improved Player. A player needs 65 games of at least 20 minutes, with two games of 15 to 20 minutes allowed to count, so a long injury ends his chances. Keep that in mind before backing anyone on the NBA DPOY odds board who has missed time.
Sixth Man of the Year is not covered by that rule. It has its own test: a player has to come off the bench in more games than he starts. That is why the starts column above matters.
A panel of media members votes after the regular season ends in April, and the winners are named during the playoffs.
Canadians and the Raptors in the award races
Nickeil Alexander-Walker, born in Toronto, won Most Improved Player last season with Atlanta. Pascal Siakam won it as a Raptor in 2018-19.
Kawhi Leonard, now back in Toronto, won Defensive Player of the Year twice with San Antonio, in 2014-15 and 2015-16. Every Canadian on an NBA roster is on our Canadians in the NBA page.

Betting on NBA awards in Canada
Award odds are a futures market: the bet settles when the award is named in the spring, so the stake is tied up for months. The legal route depends on where you live: licensed private sportsbooks in Ontario and Alberta, the provincial lottery platform elsewhere. Our NBA betting hub covers each province, and the list below is matched to your location.
The other two award markets have pages of their own: our NBA MVP odds and NBA Rookie of the Year odds. The title board is on our NBA championship odds page.
