NBA Cup 2026: Groups, Standings, Schedule and Bracket

The NBA Cup is the league’s in-season tournament, and its 2026 edition starts on Friday 30 October. All 30 clubs play four group games, eight go through to single-elimination knockouts, and the final is on Friday 11 December at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. That’s new: the first three finals were in Las Vegas.

Toronto is in East Group A with Brooklyn, Detroit, Milwaukee and Orlando, which means Friday’s Cup opener against the Magic comes two nights after the same clubs meet in an ordinary regular-season game at Scotiabank Arena. Below are the live standings for all six groups, Toronto’s four Cup games and where to watch them in Canada, then how the NBA Cup works. 19+ (18+ in AB, MB and QC).

How the NBA Cup works

In June, the 15 clubs in each conference were drawn into three groups of five. The draw used five pots, sorted by last season’s records, with one club from each pot in every group. That keeps the groups roughly level.

Each club plays the other four in its group once, two at home and two away. Those games are played on Cup Nights: every Friday from 30 October to 27 November, plus Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 November. They count as ordinary regular-season games too, so a Cup win is also a win in the standings.

Who reaches the knockout rounds

Eight clubs go through. The six group winners qualify, and so does one wild card from each conference: whichever second-placed club has the best group record.

When clubs finish level, the NBA separates them in this order:

  1. Head-to-head record in group play.
  2. Point differential in group play.
  3. Total points scored in group play.
  4. Record from the 2025-26 regular season.
  5. A random draw.

Overtime doesn’t count for the second and third. A game that goes to overtime is scored as a point differential of zero for both clubs, and points scored in overtime are left out of the total. The wild-card tie skips head-to-head.

Knockout dates and the final

RoundDateWhere
QuarterfinalsFri 4 and Sat 5 DecHome arena of the higher seed
SemifinalsTue 8 and/or Wed 9 DecHome arena of the higher seed
FinalFri 11 DecHinkle Fieldhouse, Indianapolis

In each conference the two best group records host the quarterfinals, and the best of all hosts the wild card. This season the semifinals left Las Vegas too, so the higher seed plays at home. Both of those rounds count in the regular-season standings, though the final doesn’t.

A prize pool, growing with each round, goes to the players of the eight knockout clubs. Everyone else plays two ordinary games, on 6 and 7 December and on 9 and 10 December, so every club still reaches 82.

Our NBA betting hub explains each province, and the list below is matched to where you are.

Before a Cup Night, check the NBA injury report and the NBA games tonight board. Group games carry extra weight, and clubs still rest players in them.
