Vegas Golden Knights 2026-27 season outlook
Written 28 September 2026. The Golden Knights open their 10th season at home to Chicago on 29 September under Ryan Craig, who replaced John Tortorella in June and makes his NHL head-coaching debut. The main task is replacing Pavel Dorofeyev’s goals.
The Golden Knights went 39-26-17 for 95 points, 13th in the league, and won the Pacific after going 7-0-1 once Tortorella replaced Bruce Cassidy on 29 March. They beat Utah, Anaheim and Colorado, then lost the Final to Carolina in six. Jack Eichel had 90 points, and Mitch Marner led the playoffs with 29.
Dorofeyev, the club’s top goal-scorer with 37 last season, went to the Rangers for draft picks, Keegan Kolesar and Akira Schmid were also traded, and Colton Sissons signed with Toronto. Victor Olofsson returned as a free agent, Parker Wotherspoon came from Pittsburgh for Kaedan Korczak, and Rasmus Andersson and Jeremy Lauzon re-signed. The first-round pick was Finnish defenceman Juho Piiparinen, 29th.
Carter Hart started all 22 playoff games and saved .909, while Adin Hill, in goal for most of the 2023 Cup run, did not play. Craig has said both will start early. Alex Pietrangelo, who missed last season with a hip injury, is on long-term injured reserve again. Forward Raphael Lavoie is day-to-day and defenceman Lukas Cormier is out.
Captain Mark Stone signed a two-year extension on 12 September, and on 20 February 2027 the Golden Knights play Dallas outdoors at AT&T Stadium. On Bet99’s July board the Golden Knights were +1000 for the Stanley Cup, fifth of 32.

Counting the NHL’s own listings for the 84 regular-season games, 18 on Sportsnet, 17 on TVA Sports, 12 on Sportsnet+, 7 on TVA Sports 2, 6 on Sportsnet One, 4 on Sportsnet 360 and 1 on RDSI. In Canada, Rogers holds the out-of-market rights, so those games stream on Sportsnet+ Premium, which is sold on its own rather than through a TV package, and NHL Centre Ice through a TV provider is the other route. Vegas Golden Knights odds and how the market sees them
The Golden Knights markets with the most depth are the season-long futures: the Stanley Cup, the Western Conference, the Pacific Division, a regular-season points total and a yes-or-no price on making the playoffs. On Bet99’s board on 30 July 2026 the Golden Knights were +1000 to win the Stanley Cup, fifth of the 32 teams on the board after reaching last season’s Final. Vegas Golden Knights history
The NHL’s owners approved a Las Vegas team for Bill Foley’s group on 22 June 2016, and the Golden Knights name followed that November. George McPhee built the roster in the 2017 expansion draft, taking Marc-André Fleury from Pittsburgh, and Gerard Gallant was the first coach. Vegas won their first game 2-1 in Dallas on 6 October 2017 and, four days later, after a tribute to the victims of the 1 October shooting on the Strip, beat Arizona 5-2 at home. The self-styled Golden Misfits won the Pacific with 109 points and reached the Stanley Cup Final, where Washington won in five games.
Mark Stone arrived from Ottawa in February 2019, Peter DeBoer replaced Gallant in January 2020, and Stone became the first captain in January 2021, the season Fleury won the Vezina Trophy. Vegas lost in the third round in 2020 and 2021, traded Fleury, acquired Jack Eichel from Buffalo in November 2021 and, after their only playoff miss, hired Bruce Cassidy in June 2022. The Cup came in their sixth season, sooner than for any team that joined the NHL from 1967 on. They beat Winnipeg, Edmonton, Dallas and Florida, clinching with a 9-3 home win in Game 5 on 13 June 2023, when Stone scored a hat trick. Jonathan Marchessault won the Conn Smythe Trophy.
Dallas beat the defending champions in seven games in the 2024 first round, and in 2025 Vegas won the Pacific but lost to Edmonton in five games in the second round. Mitch Marner arrived from Toronto in a trade on 1 July 2025. In 2025-26 the Golden Knights slid toward the playoff line, fired Cassidy on 29 March 2026 and went 7-0-1 under John Tortorella to win the Pacific. They beat Utah and Anaheim, swept the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Avalanche and reached a third Final in nine seasons. Carolina won it in six, finishing with a 3-0 win at T-Mobile Arena on 14 June 2026.
Most famous player: Jonathan Marchessault
Marchessault was never drafted. Born in Cap-Rouge, Quebec, he had scored 30 goals for Florida when the Panthers left him exposed and Vegas claimed him in the 2017 expansion draft. He had 75 points in the first season, scored 30 goals in 2021-22 and a career-high 42 in 2023-24, then left for Nashville as a free agent in July 2024 as the franchise leader in goals (192) and points (417).
His defining spring was 2023. He tied Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl for the playoff lead with 13 goals, finished with 25 points and won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP when Vegas beat Florida, his former team, for the Stanley Cup. He was one of six original Golden Knights on the Cup-winning roster, with William Karlsson, Reilly Smith, Brayden McNabb, Shea Theodore and William Carrier. Marc-André Fleury holds the club records for wins (117) and shutouts (23).
