About the MLS Golden Boot
The MLS Golden Boot is awarded to the league’s top scorer each season, based solely on regular-season goals. Playoff goals do not count. Chris Wondolowski and Bradley Wright-Phillips have each won it twice, the most in league history, and the single-season record belongs to Carlos Vela, who scored 34 goals for LAFC in 2019.
Chris Wondolowski remains the MLS all-time leading scorer with 171 goals. Lionel Messi, the 2025 Golden Boot winner, is again favored to repeat with Inter Miami in 2026.
