In MLS, a player’s willingness to take a shot is a key indicator of their attacking prowess.

While there is no official award for the player with the most shots, it is a statistic that is closely followed by fans and analysts.

The all-time record for most career shots is held by Ante Razov, who took 926 shots over his 13-year career. In terms of single-game heroics, Zlatan Ibrahimović holds the individual record with 14 shots in a match for the LA Galaxy in 2019.

That same year, the San Jose Earthquakes set the team record with an incredible 43 shots in a single game. In the 2025 season, Lionel Messi of Inter Miami led the league with an impressive 176 total shots, with 80 of those being on target.

Other prolific shooters included Denis Bouanga of Los Angeles with 162 shots and Hany Mukhtar of Nashville SC with 127 shots.
