Nashville SC pulled clear at the top of the East, beating Los Angeles FC 3-2 at home to move to 30 points from 13 matches. Inter Miami won both legs of a heavy week — 5-3 at Cincinnati and 2-0 at home to Portland Timbers — to climb into second in the East on 28 points. Vancouver Whitecaps still lead the West on goal difference at plus-20, but lost 1-0 at Houston Dynamo on Sunday to drop their first points in a stretch. San Jose Earthquakes, level with Vancouver on 29 points, lost 3-2 at Dallas after their midweek defeat at Seattle — two losses in a row for the West co-leader. Real Salt Lake climbed into the West top three on 25 points after wins over Houston and Colorado.

Western Conference race
Vancouver Whitecaps moved to 29 points with their 3-2 road win at Dallas, taking the West lead on goal difference. San Jose Earthquakes drew level on points with their 2-3 loss at Seattle on May 12, their first defeat of the season and the result that flipped the West lead in one night. Seattle Sounders’ win lifted them to 24 points and third in the West, with games in hand on most of the conference. Real Salt Lake’s 3-0 home win over Houston Dynamo lifted them to 22 points and fourth, level with LAFC and Minnesota United at 21 in the playoff pack. Sporting Kansas City sit bottom on 8 points despite the 3-1 home win over LA Galaxy.
Eastern Conference race
Nashville SC lead the Eastern Conference on 27 points after a 3-0 road win at New England, the most dominant Eastern result of the matchday. Inter Miami climbed back to second on 25 points after their 5-3 road win at Cincinnati ended the run of stumbles that had started with the Orlando home defeat. New England remain third on 22 despite the Nashville loss, with Chicago Fire fourth on 20 after a 3-1 win at DC United. MLS playoff format 2026
The top nine teams in each conference qualify for the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs at the end of the 34-game regular season. The Supporters’ Shield goes to the team with the best overall record regardless of conference, currently held jointly between Vancouver and San Jose on 29 points. Through thirteen rounds, the playoff line in both conferences is starting to stretch as the form sides pull clear and the bottom group falls back.
