The 2026/27 Premier League season is underway amid plenty of intrigue in the dugout following a frenzied summer of activity.
There were a record-smashing 11 in-season Premier League managerial changes in 2025/26, while another nine managers have vacated their posts since the campaign ended.
To put everything into context. Roberto De Zerbi is now the 11th-longest-serving current Premier League manager, despite having only taken charge of Tottenham in March 2026; a sign of just how quickly the managerial landscape has changed.

Frank Lampard (Coventry City)
Frank Lampard has returned to the Premier League following a stunning season with Coventry City, who he led to Championship glory, returning the club to the Premier League for the first time in 25 years.
Lampard is an absolute hero at the Sky Blues, and the club should give him time this season, especially after recently signing a new deal that runs until 2029.
Sky Bet don’t seem to see it that way, handing the former Chelsea boss newly trimmed Premier League Sack Race odds of 4/1 to be the first to leave after Coventry’s defeats to Arsenal and Hull City. The games don’t get any easier with Manchester City at the Etihad up next.
Alvaro Arbeloa (Fulham)
Football management can be a strange game. One minute you can be shouting instructions to Kylian Mbappe and co at Real Madrid, and the next you’re taking charge at Fulham. That is no slight on the Cottagers, but it shows just how quickly things can change in the dugout.
The man in question is, of course, Alvaro Arbeloa. The Spaniard now faces the tricky task of filling Marco Silva’s shoes. Silva left Fulham after five years in charge to take over at Benfica, replacing Jose Mourinho. In a curious twist, Mourinho has replaced Arbeloa at Real Madrid.
Arbeloa hasn’t had the best of starts, losing both games to Chelsea and Sunderland. This has seen Sky Bet install the Spaniard as the second favourite at 11/2 to be the first exit of the season.
Roberto De Zerbi (Tottenham)
Tottenham headed into the new season with renewed optimism following an influx of new signings, fuelling hopes that they could challenge towards the top end of the table.
However, that optimism has quickly evaporated after a nightmare start, with Tottenham losing their opening two games without scoring for the first time since 1974.
Now priced at 7/1 in the betting, Roberto De Zerbi faces an immediate challenge to get his raft of new recruits settled and performing quickly. If results don’t improve, the pressure on the Spurs boss could build rapidly.
Oliver Glasner (Nottingham Forest)
Nottingham Forest’s Oliver Glasner is arguably the most intriguing name in the top five of the betting at 7/1.
Glasner himself is an excellent manager who inspired Crystal Palace to FA Cup, Community Shield, and most recently Conference League glory. Let’s not forget he also won the Europa League with Frankfurt.
The concern here is not Glasner. It’s the bloke who owns his new club. Evangelos Marinakis has scored his way through four managers since the start of last season, with Vitor Pereira the latest to get the axe in July.
That makes Glasner’s position particularly unnerving. A slow start could quickly put him under pressure, regardless of his impressive track record.
Unai Emery (Aston Villa)
Aston Villa endured a difficult transfer window, losing multiple prominent players from the spine of their team, including Emi Martinez, Ezri Konsa, Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers, and Ollie Watkins. They have since suffered defeats in both of their opening games, leaving them 19th in the table.
However, if there is one manager to trust in a difficult situation, it is Unai Emery. The Spaniard has repeatedly worked wonders in club football and will now be tasked with getting the best out of his new arrivals, Johan Manzambi, Nicolas Jackson and Ibrahim Mbaye, as Villa look to recover from a tumultuous summer.
Despite seeing his odds slashed from 50/1 to 15/2, there is little reason to panic just yet. With a proven and popular manager at the helm, Villa will be hoping their fortunes can quickly turn around.
