Carlos Alcaraz’s quest for a maiden French Open title ended at the semi-final stage after losing to Novak Djokovic in four sets.
The Spaniard is aiming to cling onto top spot in the ATP rankings, having already claimed four titles this season including the Indian Wells Masters.
Alcaraz, who has also triumphed three times on clay this term, did suffer a surprise third-round defeat in Rome recently.
Nevertheless, he has been commanding form at Roland Garros, dropping just a single set while sweeping aside Flavio Cobolli, Taro Daniel, Denis Shapovalov and Lorenzo Musetti.
Alcaraz was able to overcome Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter final but beating Djokovic in the next round proved to be a step too far.
