Squawka’s World Cup AI Predictor: AI score predictions for today’s games at the 2026 World Cup

Using data from previous tournaments and qualifying, we’ve tasked our model with creating some World Cup AI predictions with correct score picks on every match at this summer’s tournament.

Our AI predictor combines data from qualifying matches, previous World Cups, bookmakers and more to determine the most likely correct score outcome from the game.

As the tournament progresses, the model will focus more heavily on the games that have already taken place within the tournament and it will look beyond results to input shot, possession and general match momentum data to see where value may lie.

Spain vs Belgium

Spain remain the tournament’s most remarkable defensive unit – nine goals scored, none conceded in five games. The 1-0 win over Portugal in the Round of 16 was tight but controlled, and Oyarzabal’s four goals make him one of the tournament’s most clinical finishers. Lamine Yamal continues to be unplayable on his day. Only Ferran Torres, Pedri, and Álex Baena are on yellow cards – a remarkably clean disciplinary record.

Belgium, meanwhile, have been transformed. The 4-1 demolition of the United States in the Round of 16 was their best performance of the tournament — Lukaku, De Ketelaere, Tielemans, and Trossard all contributing — and it announced them as genuine contenders. De Bruyne is pulling the strings, and the squad has real depth. Noa Ngoy remains suspended (red card). The key question is whether Belgium can finally breach Spain’s defence, which has not been troubled in five games. Spain’s defensive record is almost supernatural at this point, but Belgium’s attacking quality is the sternest test they have faced.

AI Prediction: Spain 1-0 Belgium

Norway vs England

The most explosive fixture of the quarter-finals on paper. Norway’s 2-1 win over Brazil in the Round of 16 was the result of the tournament, taking Haaland to seven goals, and it confirmed them as genuine dark horses. Their attacking output is extraordinary, but nine goals conceded in five games is a persistent defensive concern that England’s clinical attack will look to exploit.

England, meanwhile, produced arguably their best performance of the tournament in the 3-2 win over Mexico at the Azteca — a result that announced them as serious contenders. Harry Kane is on six goals, Bellingham on four, and the squad has real momentum. However, the disciplinary situation is significant: Declan Rice is suspended (two yellow cards) and Jarrod Quansah is also suspended (red card) — losing both a key defensive midfielder and a centre-back for a quarter-final is a serious blow. Bellingham, Guéhi, O’Reilly, and Henderson are all on yellow cards too, adding further risk.

Norway’s attacking threat against an England side missing Rice and Quansah makes this closer than the records suggest. But England’s experience in knockout football and Kane’s ruthlessness in front of goal gives them the edge.

AI Prediction: Norway 1-2 England (AET)

Argentina vs Switzerland

Argentina have been the tournament’s most relentless side — five wins from five, Messi on eight goals and level with Mbappé at the top of the scoring charts. The 3-2 win over Egypt in the Round of 16 was tighter than expected, but it showed their ability to find a way through even when not at their best. Medina, Paredes, and Montiel are on yellow cards, but the squad is otherwise clean.

Switzerland have been quietly outstanding — four wins and a draw, nine goals scored, only three conceded. The 0-0 draw with Colombia, settled on penalties, showed their mental fortitude in knockout football. However, Granit Xhaka and Denis Zakaria are both suspended with two yellow cards each, meaning Nati are losing their two most experienced midfielders for a quarter-final against Argentina is a devastating blow. Without Xhaka’s leadership and Zakaria’s physicality, Switzerland’s ability to press and control the midfield battle is severely compromised. Argentina should have too much quality.

AI Prediction: Argentina 2-0 Switzerland
