Tottenham Hotspur team news vs Copenhagen and predicted lineup

Tottenham need a response following a lacklustre defeat to Chelsea at the weekend, when they play host to FC Copenhagen on Tuesday evening (8pm kick-off, live on TNT Sports 1).

Spurs were booed off the pitch after their 1-0 loss to their London rivals and this looks like a must-win encounter if they are to qualify automatically for the knockout stages.

The hosts are currently 15th in the Champions League standings on five points from three matches, but have some tough fixtures ahead against the likes of PSG and Borussia Dortmund.

Copenhagen head into the clash with just one point from their opening three European games and have never previously won a competitive fixture in England.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Copenhagen

Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Spence; Joao Palhinha, Bentancur; Johnson, Sarr, Odobert; Richarlison.

Tottenham are expected to make at least a couple of changes off the back of Saturday’s poor league display.

Lucas Bergvall misses out through concussion, with Wilson Odobert looking most likely to replace the Swedish midfielder.

Cristian Romero came on after an hour against Chelsea and is expected to start in the heart of the defence in place of Kevin Danso.

Thomas Frank also has to decide whether to start Randal Kolo Muani, who is yet to score following his loan move from PSG, or Richarlison up front.

Frank working hard to find a goal solution

Spurs’ home form is a worry for both the fans and the manager, with just three wins in seven matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season.

It’s a lack of goals from attacking players though that will be more of a concern for boss Frank, with two of Spurs’ three Champions League strikes having been own goals.

Tottenham have scored just twice in their last three home fixtures and are struggling to find a solution to their lack of firepower.

Injuries to the likes of Dominic Solanke, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski have made an impact, but Frank knows that things need to improve in front of goal.

Speaking in his pre-match news conference, the Spurs boss said: “I am very aware we haven’t been free-flowing in some games. There has definitely been moments when it has been quite good.”

Frank added: “I also think it is fair to say we are working very hard on it, on creating good relations, a good structure and to be confident.”
