Both played on Wednesday night, and both came away with a share of the spoils.

DC United vs Toronto predictions & betting tips

Our PredictionOdds & BookmakerConfidenceWhy We’re Backing It
Tai Baribo to score first18/5 @ bet365 (22%)⭐⭐⭐Baribo has been the most efficient finisher in this fixture by a distance. He has nine goals from 13 appearances, one every 113 minutes, and those nine account for 41% of everything DC United have scored. The conversion rate is the eye-catcher: nine goals from just 12 shots on target. Toronto arrive having conceded 29 times in 16 games, and they have shipped at least two goals in each of the last four meetings at Audi Field. Baribo is a general evens shot to score at any stage. The 18/5 for opening the scoring rewards a striker who rarely needs a second invitation.
Louis Munteanu to score anytime8/5 @ bet365 (38%)⭐⭐The market cannot agree on Munteanu, and the big end of it looks worth taking. He has five goals from just 708 minutes, one every 142 minutes, despite starting only seven of his 12 appearances. Together, Munteanu and Baribo have scored 14 of DC United’s 22 league goals. Betfred price this at 5/6 and most bookmakers sit close to evens, so bet365’s 8/5 is nearly double the shortest quote on the market. Toronto have kept two clean sheets in a row, but neither came against a front two carrying this much of their team’s output.

How both teams head into DC United vs Toronto

DC United

DC United have turned stalemates into an art form. Four wins, seven draws and five defeats from 16 games leaves them ninth in the Eastern Conference on 19 points, with a goal difference of minus four. Only Toronto have drawn as often in the conference.

The recent run tells the story. DC United are winless in five, a sequence containing four draws and one defeat, stretching back to a 2-0 win at New York City on 3rd May. Wednesday’s return from the World Cup break brought another, a 1-1 draw at Houston Dynamo.

Home has been chaotic rather than comfortable. Their last five at Audi Field produced a 4-4 draw with Montreal, a 1-1 draw with St. Louis City, a 1-3 defeat to Chicago Fire, a 3-2 win over Orlando City and a 0-4 loss to Dallas. That is 14 goals conceded in five, with Sean Johnson playing every minute in goal.

Toronto FC

Toronto’s problem is the opposite one. They cannot lose heavily, and they cannot win at all. Three wins, seven draws and six defeats leaves them 12th on 16 points, and their most recent victory came on 4th April against Colorado Rapids. Ten league games have passed without another.

The restart has at least brought solidity. Toronto followed a 0-0 draw at Montreal on 17th July with another goalless draw at New England on Wednesday, their first back-to-back clean sheets of the season. Luka Gavran has played every minute of the campaign in goal.

The goals are spread thinly. Daniel Salloi leads the way with four goals and three assists from 15 starts, hitting the target 14 times. Josh Sargent has three goals from 692 minutes since establishing himself, and Emilio Aristizabal has three from just 492. Jonathan Osorio has three assists but is yet to score.

DC United team news

DC United’s spine has been ever-present. Johnson, Lucas Bartlett and Keisuke Kurokawa have each started all 16 league games, with Kurokawa supplying three assists from defence.

The selection question is up front. Munteanu has started seven of his 12 appearances, so his role alongside Baribo is the one to watch.

Toronto FC team news

Gavran is a certainty in goal, and Osorio has started 15 of the 16 games in midfield. Walker Zimmerman has started 12 since settling into the back line.

Sargent has started eight of his 10 appearances and looks the likeliest to lead the line. This is Toronto’s second away fixture in four days, both on the road.

Head-to-Head

The venue matters more than the record here. DC United have won four of the last 10 meetings to Toronto’s three, with three draws and a 24-17 edge on goals. Every one of those Toronto wins arrived at BMO Field, including a 2-0 victory in the most recent meeting in May 2025. They have not won in Washington in any of the last 10. The pattern there is stranger still, with three of the last four at Audi Field finishing 2-2.

Which side will end their winless run?

DC United are favourites at a best price of 11/10 with LeoVegas, with the general market at evens. Toronto can be backed at 5/2 with bet365, Betfred and LeoVegas, while the draw is 13/5 with Betfair, Betfred and Betway. Given both teams have drawn seven of 16, that draw price will tempt plenty.

We prefer the goalscorer markets, which land whatever the result. Baribo to score first at 18/5 with bet365 is our headline bet. Nine goals from 12 shots on target is absurd efficiency, and Toronto have conceded at least twice on each of their last four visits to Audi Field.

Munteanu to score anytime at 8/5 with bet365 completes the pair. A goal every 142 minutes is strong output for a player who mostly starts on the bench, and the price is nearly double what Betfred offer. Toronto have found a way to stop leaking goals. Stopping these two is a different task.
