France Women and Wales Women face in the group stage of Women’s Euro 2025 at Arena St Gallen on Wednesday 9th July at 8pm (UK time). France can secure a place in the knockout rounds of Euro 2025 with a win over Wales in St Gallen, and the market has Les Bleues at 1/14 to seal the deal. This game will be broadcast live in the UK on ITV.
Over 3.5 Goals (4/5 with bet365)
France arrived in Switzerland in excellent form, having won all six of their Nations League group-stage matches and Les Bleues good run continued when Laurent Bonadei’s women beat England 2-1 on Saturday.
The French hit 14 shots and created an expected goals tally of 2.34 against a top-level Lionesses’ side and it’s hard to see how Wales will be able to keep Les Bleues at bay.
The Dragons allowed the Netherlands 19 efforts on goal in their opening 3-0 defeat and Rhian Wilkinson’s side are seven matches without a win, conceding seven times in their last two games.
Wales will look to keep things tight against France, but there is a huge gulf in class between the two sides and backing over 3.5 goals looks the best way to side with a wide-margin Les Bleues success.
Sandy Baltimore to score first (5/1 with bet365)
At 5/1, it could pay to take a big-price punt on French forward Sandy Baltimore bagging the opening goal against Wales.
The Chelsea star has predominantly been used as a full-back by the Blues in the WSL this season, but France boss Laurent Bonadei deployed the left-sided player in a more advanced role against England.
The 25-year-old stuck against the Lionesses and that made it five goals in her last four matches.
Baltimore was withdrawn after 62 minutes against the reigning European champions, but the Chelsea forward was a major threat to the Lionesses’ defence and she should get plenty of joy against a weak Wales backline.

How both teams go into France vs Wales
Laurent Bonadei’s women picked up a huge 2-1 victory over the defending European champions England in their opening contest in Switzerland and the French have the look of potential tournament winners.
The situation is a little more worrying for Wales, who were thumped 3-0 by the Netherlands on Matchday 1 and the Dragons could be looking at elimination if they fall to France.
The current form of the two sides could hardly be more different, with Les Bleues having won their last five matches, while Wales are without a win in their previous five.
These two sides met during qualifying for the 2023 Women’s World Cup, with France winning 2-0 on home soil in Guingamp, before claiming a 2-1 victory in Llanelli when they visited Wales.
France team news
France face a decision over the fitness of Griedge Mbock, who missed the victory against Wales with a calf injury and remains a doubt for Wednesday’s clash.
Should Mbock be unavailable, the central defensive partnership of Maëlle Lakrar and Alice Sombath is expected to remain unchanged.
Up front, Marie-Antoinette Katoto will once again spearhead the attack, aiming to find the net for a third straight international appearance.
Wales team news
Wales received a boost following their loss to France, with head coach Rhian Wilkinson clarifying that Ceri Holland’s late exit was due to cramp, not injury. Holland is expected to keep her spot for Wednesday’s match, though Wilkinson may tweak the lineup, with Ella Powell pushing for a start after coming on at half-time last time out. Veteran forward Jess Fishlock, Wales’ all-time leading scorer, will be eager to break the team’s goal drought on the major tournament stage.
France vs Wales head-to-head
France beat Wales home and away in qualifying for the 2023 World Cup, by an aggregate score of 4-1.
