Denmark Women and Sweden Women get their Women’s Euro 2025 campaign underway with an interesting matchup at Stade de Geneve on Friday 4th July at 5pm (UK time). Sweden are one-time European champions, winning the first tournament in 1984. Denmark are still searching for their maiden glory. This game will be broadcast live in the UK on ITV1.
Sweden to win & over 2.5 goals (7/5 with bet365)
Sweden head to Geneva for their opening Euro 2025 contest against Denmark and the talented Swedes should once again prove a level above the Danes.
The two Scandinavian nations met only a month ago in the Nations League when Peter Gerhardsson’s Swedish side crushed the Red and White 6-1.
That rampant victory came on home turf in Stockholm, but it was an impressive effort all the same and Sweden were also 2-1 Nations League winners over the Danes in Odense in their earlier meeting.
It wasn’t a straightforward Euro 2025 qualifying campaign for the Swedes, but Gerhardsson’s women were housed in a tough section alongside England and France and it was really a breeze for them against much weaker opposition in the playoffs.
Denmark’s qualifying effort looks a little more impressive on paper as they qualified directly, but it was an extremely weak section outside of winners Spain and the Danes couldn’t really fail to finish as runners-up to the Euro 2025 favourites.
It’s 7/5 that Sweden win and there are over 2.5 goals in the game and that looks an attractive offer.
Stina Blackstenius to score two or more goals (6/1 with bet365)
Arsenal striker Stina Blackstenius looks a good goalscorer option for the match in Geneva, with Sweden fancied for a high-scoring victory.
The 29-year-old hit a hat-trick in Sweden’s 6-1 rout over Denmark in the Nations League last month and she also scored the opening goal for the Blue and Yellow in their 2-0 warm-up win over Norway.
Blackstenius wasn’t a regular starter for Arsenal in the Women’s Super League this season, with Alessia Russo playing the leading role, but the Swede had more shots and more shots on target per game than her England counterpart and the 29-year-old was on top of the Gunners’ shooting numbers.
It’s 6/1 that Blackstenius can score two or more goals against Denmark in what should be a dominant success for Sweden in Geneva, and that looks a price worth taking.

How both teams go into Denmark vs Sweden
Denmark have only missed three of the 13 Women’s European Championships, with their best finish coming in 2017 when they were runners-up. That came after a run to the semi-finals four years earlier. But Denmark bowed out at the group stage three years ago with one win and two defeats from their three matches. They only scored one goal too, against Finland who finished below them.
Denmark did as well as expected in qualifying for Euro 2025, finishing second in their group behind Spain. They won four of their six games, only losing home and away to Spain. De rod-hvide have had a mixed year in 2025, winning three and drawing three of their six games so far. And two of those defeats came against Sweden.
Sweden are one-time winners of the Women’s European Championship, lifting the trophy in the first edition of the tournament. And they’ve been present in each of the past eight tournaments — not including 2025. Sweden are consistent at the Women’s Euros, making the semi-finals in four of the six tournaments this century, finishing as runners-up in 2001. And when they have failed to make it to the semi-finals, Sweden have at least reached the quarter-finals. It was a quarter-final exit three years ago, with Sweden beaten by eventual champions England.
Sweden faced England in qualifying for Euro 2025 and had to go through the play-offs, having finished third in their group. They won two, drew two and lost two of their six games. But Sweden were seeded for the play-offs and cruised through the first round with a 12-0 aggregate win over Luxembourg. Bladgult then beat Serbia 8-0 on aggregate to seal their spot at Euro 2025. Sweden are unbeaten in their past 11 competitive games, including two wins over Denmark.
Denmark team news
Signe Bruun is available after shaking off an injury worry, as is Emma Faerge. Pernille Harder will be the focal point of the team.
Sweden team news
There were no real surprises in Sweden’s squad, though Rosa Kafaji misses out due to injury — having struggled for gametime at Arsenal. Evelyn Ijeh, Felicia Schroder and Emma Kullberg have also dropped out from the recent Uefa Nations League squad.
Denmark vs Sweden head-to-head
Sweden have faced Denmark more than any other opponent, and they have a positive record with 34 wins from the 60 matches. They won the two meeting earlier this year by an aggregate score of 8-2.
