Premier League side Chelsea will be hoping to reach the Club World Cup Final when they take on Fluminense on Tuesday at 8pm (UK time).

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are just two wins away from being named world champions for the second time in their history. The Blues last lifted the trophy in 2021 with Thomas Tuchel in charge, as reigning European champions.
That Champions League win in 2021 is what earned Chelsea their spot in the revamped Club World Cup this summer. It would be the second trophy for Maresca with Chelsea having also lifted the Uefa Conference League at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Chelsea team news vs Fluminense
Moises Caicedo is available for Chelsea after suspension and should go straight into the midfield alongside Enzo Fernandez. Andrey Santos will be the one to drop to the bench, with Romeo Lavia also a substitute.
Lavia missed the quarter-final win over Palmeiras through injury, and may not be risked from the start. Reece James was also an injury absentee, having to pull out of the starting XI late on. But James revealed he was fine after the game and should start, this time at right-back.
There will be another change to the Chelsea defence. Levi Colwill received his second yellow card of the tournament last time out and is suspended. Tosin Adarabioyo is the most likely replacement, partnering Trevoh Chalobah at the heart of the Chelsea defence.
Nicolas Jackson is also likely to return to the starting XI. The Senegalese striker missed two matches through suspension and was an unused substitute against Palmeiras last time out.

But Liam Delap also received his second yellow card of the tournament so must serve a suspension. Cole Palmer is likely to play through the middle, with Pedro Neto on the wing.
Christopher Nkunky could retain his place on the left as Noni Madueke’s Chelsea future is currently in doubt.
Chelsea’s Brazilian history
Fluminense are the third Brazilian team Chelsea have faced at the Club World Cup this summer. And it’ll be the fifth competitive match between Chelsea and a Brazilian side in their history.
The first meeting came in the 2012 Club World Cup Final when Chelsea took on Corinthians. The Blues were the favourites to win that game as European champions but Paolo Guerrero scored the only goal in the second half to seal a shock win. That remains the last time a European team have failed to win the Club World Cup.
Nine years later Chelsea got their revenge on Brazil in another Club World Cup Final. Palmeiras were the opponents this time and Chelsea needed extra-time to beat the Verdao. Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz scored Chelsea’s goals, the latter netting the winner with a 117th minute penalty. Raphael Veiga had equalised for Palmeiras to take the game to extra-time.
Fans only had to wait three more years for the next game, and this was another Brazil win. Flamengo were the victors in the 2025 Club World Cup group stage thanks to goals from Bruno Henrique, Danilo and Wallace Yan. This was after Pedro Neto had put Chelsea ahead.
And, finally, in the quarter-finals Chelsea recorded their second 2-1 win over Palmeiras. The Blues didn’t need an extra 30 minutes this time but the winner was an own goal.
