Types of Club World Cup betting tips

The 2025 Club World Cup brings together top-tier clubs from across the globe—and with them, a wide variety of betting markets to explore. Whether you’re backing tournament favourites or looking for value in less conventional options, here’s a breakdown of the most popular ways to bet on the action.

Full-Time Result

One of the most straightforward and popular football betting markets, the full-time result allows you to predict whether the match will end in a win for either team or a draw after 90 minutes. Ideal for both casual and experienced punters, this market remains a go-to across all major fixtures.

For added variety, you can also bet on which team will win each half or be leading at certain points in the game. Correct score markets are another option—back the exact score at either half-time or full-time for a bigger payout.

Score & Win

Looking to boost your odds when backing a strong favourite? The “To Score and Win” market lets you combine a winning result with a specific goalscorer. It’s a popular choice when a key player is in great form, offering better value than standard result or scorer bets on their own.

You’ll also find markets for first goalscorer, anytime goalscorer, last goalscorer, and players to score multiple goals, ideal if you’ve done your homework on form and matchups.

Both Teams To Score (BTTS)

This market is exactly as it sounds: both teams must score at least once in the match for your bet to land. It’s a great choice for games involving attack-minded sides or unpredictable defences, and it’s particularly popular in accumulator bets covering multiple fixtures.

Player Total Shots

One of the more advanced betting options, this market allows you to predict how many shots a specific player will attempt during a match. It’s an increasingly popular choice with the rise of player performance data. Some bookmakers also offer markets on total shots on target or team-wide shot counts.

Player Tackles

If you’re looking for more tactical or defensive angles, the player total tackles market is worth exploring. Back players known for their defensive contribution, like defensive midfielders or aggressive full-backs, tend to hit high tackle counts, especially in high-pressure knockout games.

Booking Markets

Card betting remains a popular side market, especially in matches with intense rivalries or high stakes. You can bet on total cards in a game, which team or player will receive the first booking, or whether a red card will be shown. Some bookmakers even offer odds on specific players to be booked or sent off.

About the Club World Cup

Increase in teams

Previously, the Club World Cup typically featured seven teams in a short tournament lasting approximately 10 days. A few minor changes occurred from the first Fifa-coordinated edition in 2000 to the last one in 2003, but the overall concept remained largely the same. This has been maintained, but under a different name: Fifa Intercontinental Cup, debuting in 2024 with Real Madrid as champions.

From 2025 onwards, the Club World Cup itself will be a month-long tournament, similar to other major competitions — held every four years. But it doesn’t have a third-placed match, instead offering gold and silver medals to the champions and runners-up.

Confederations

Europe is the continent with the most participants (12), followed by South America (6), Asia, North/Central America and Africa (four each), and Oceania (1). The United States received one extra spot for hosting the tournament, which went to the 2024 Supporters’ Shield champions Inter Miami.

Among the title favourites, are Spanish giants and current Fifa Intercontinental Cup champions Real Madrid, Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain, as well as Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Fluminense, Palmeiras and Al Hilal will try to cause an upset as the last remaining teams outside of Europe.

  • Group A: Palmeiras, Inter Miami, Porto, Al Ahly
  • Group B: Paris Saint-Germain, Botafogo, Atletico Madrid, Seattle Sounders
  • Group C: Benfica, Bayern Munich, Boca Juniors, Auckland City
  • Group D: Flamengo, Chelsea, Esperance Tunis, Los Angeles FC
  • Group E: Inter Milan, Monterrey, River Plate, Urawa Red Diamonds
  • Group F: Borussia Dortmund, Fluminense, Mamelodi Sundowns, Ulsan HD
  • Group G: Manchester City, Juventus, Al Ain, Wydad AC
  • Group H: Real Madrid, Al Hilal, Red Bull Salzburg, Pachuca
