Chelsea will be hoping to seal their spot in the 2025 Club World Cup final when they face Fluminense at MetLife Stadium on Tuesday 8th July at 8pm (UK time).
The Blues are looking to win the trophy for the second time, while also adding another piece of silverware under Enzo Maresca. This game will be broadcast live in the United Kingdom on DAZN.
Half Time: Chelsea (5/4 with BetMGM)
Chelsea have led at half-time in four of their five matches at the 2025 Club World Cup. That’s only been the case in two of Fluminense’s five matches. Chelsea’s aggressive press sets the tone early, forcing Fluminense into rushed decisions and turnovers. Fernandez and Caicedo control midfield zones, while wide overloads stretch the defence. Delap’s movement unsettles the back line, opening space for late runners. Fluminense struggle to exit pressure, and Chelsea strike before the break with authority.
Over 6.5 Chelsea corners (11/8 with BetMGM)
Chelsea have averaged 7.2 corners per game in the 2025 Club World Cup. Fluminense have conceded an average of 5.6 corners per match. In fact, Chelsea have taken more shots from set pieces (25) than any other team at the Club World Cup so far.Chelsea dominate territory with relentless attacking waves and wide overloads that force Fluminense deep. Constant pressure down both flanks leads to blocked crosses and deflected shots. Palmer repeatedly tests the full-backs, generating corner after corner. With high tempo and sustained momentum, seven or more corners looks inevitable.

How both teams go into Fluminense vs Chelsea
Fluminense are at the Club World Cup for the second time, previously appearing in 2023. Then, they finished as runners-up to Manchester City after losing 4-0 in the final. But the Brazilian side have been strong in 2025 and will fancy their chances of another final appearance.
Fluminense were unbeaten in their group, finishing second behind Borussia Dortmund with one win and two draws. Many will have expected them to go out in the last 16, but Fluminense were confident in their 2-0 victory over Inter Milan. They booked their spot in the semi-finals thanks to a 2-1 win over Al Hilal, thanks to goals from Matheus Martinelli and Hercules.
Chelsea are looking to become the first English club to win the Club World Cup more than once, in their third appearance in the tournament. The Blues were expected to win their group but had to settle for second, after a defeat to Flamengo. But they’ve certainly benefited from that.
Maresca’s side faced the shock Group C winners Benfica in the last 16, beating the Portuguese side 4-1 after extra time. There was a bit of drama in that game, with Chelsea conceding a late penalty after a long enforced break due to severe weather. Chelsea then beat Palmeiras 2-1 in the quarter-finals, a repeat fixture and result of the 2021 Club World Cup Final.
Fluminense team news
Juan Pablo Freytes and Martinelli are both suspended for this game for yellow card accumulation. But Rene is back after his ban and should return to the starting XI ahead of Gabriel Fuentes.
Chelsea team news
Chelsea will have Moises Caicedo back from suspension, but they have lost another two players. Levi Colwill and Liam Delap both received their second yellow cards of the tournament last time out and are banned for the semi-final. Reece James and Romeo Lavia both missed out on the win over Palmeiras due to injury, so they will need to be assessed.
Fluminense vs Chelsea head-to-head
This will be the first competitive meeting between Fluminense and Chelsea. But the Blues have already faced two Brazilian sides at the 2025 Club World Cup, winning one and losing one, beating Palmeiras 2-1 in the quarter-finals having lost 3-1 to Flamengo during the group stage.
Chelsea have played four times against Brazilian teams in total, winning two and losing two. Fluminense’s only previous encounter against an English team ended in a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City in the 2023/24 Club World Cup final.
