The Premier League burst back with a bang as Arsenal sunk to a shock defeat to Bournemouth, and title rivals Manchester City duly capitalised with a 3-0 thrashing of Chelsea.
West Ham and Leeds both gave their survival hopes a big boost, while Tottenham’s winless run has now stretched to 14 games in 2026, which has seen the club slip into the relegation zone with just six games to go.

A spring in City’s step
- Manchester City have won 29 of their last 32 Premier League games in the month of April – a win rate of 90.6%.
Manchester City closed the gap on Arsenal to six points – with a game in hand – following a comprehensive 3-0 win away to Chelsea, which was their 29th win in their last 32 Premier League matches in April. Under Pep Guardiola, the Cityzens average 2.51 points-per-game in the Premier League in April, which is the highest rate of any team to play 15+ matches in a specific month under a manager.
Man City are now 10 games unbeaten against Chelsea in the league (W7 D4) and haven’t lost to the Blues in any competition since the 2021 Champions League final.
Chelsea have now lost four of their last five Premier League games, suffering three straight defeats to nil for the first time since March 1998.

Sunderland sink sorry Spurs
- Tottenham are without a win in their last 14 Premier League games, which is their longest league run since 1935.
Sunderland beat Tottenham for the first time in 16 Premier League matches after they secured a 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light to leave Spurs in the relegation zone and now winless in their last 14 games, which is their longest league run without a win since 1935.
Spurs sacked Igor Tudor during the international break, bringing in Roberto De Zerbi in a last-ditch attempt to save their season. However, the Italian was unable to inspire an immediate impact, as he became just the second Spurs boss – after Tudor – in the last 11 appointments to lose their opening Premier League game in charge.

Newcastle’s problem
- Newcastle have lost 25 points from winning positions this season – the most of any Premier League club – and would sit second in the table if they had held on to those leads.
Crystal Palace capped a superb week with a dramatic late comeback to beat Newcastle 2-1, which came after their 3-0 Conference League victory over Fiorentina.
For Newcastle, it was another painful collapse, having previously surrendered a 1-0 lead in the 2-1 derby defeat to Sunderland before the international break. The club’s struggles are clear: no club has dropped more points from winning positions this season (25) and if they’d held onto those leads, Eddie Howe’s side would be sitting second in the table.
Arsenal’s sudden slump
- 50% of Arsenal’s defeats this season have come in their last four games in all competitions.
Arsenal’s title hopes were rocked in a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Bournemouth, leaving the door open for rivals Manchester City, who they lock horns with at the Etihad in a huge game next Sunday.
Arsenal have now lost three of their last four matches in all competitions, which accounts for 50% of their total defeats this season, having previously lost lost just three of their previous 49 games through to mid-March.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth made it a club record 12 Premier League games unbeaten, which has moved them to within a point of the top-10 and three points of the top-6. On top that, their opening goal from Junio Kroupi saw the player become the first teenager to score 10+ goals in their debut Premier League season since Robbie Keane for Coventry back in 1999-00.

Ngumoha lights up Anfield
- Rio Ngumoha, aged 17 years and 225 days, became Liverpool’s youngest ever Premier League goalscorer at Anfield.
Liverpool (5th) eased the pressure on manager Arne Slot ever so slightly in a 2-0 victory over Fulham, which gives them a cushion of four points over Chelsea (6th) in the fight for a top-5 finish.
Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha opened the scoring with an exquisite goal, which saw him make history by becoming the club’s youngest Premier League goalscorer at Anfield (17 years and 225 days), breaking Raheem Sterling’s record (17y 317d vs Reading in October 2012).
Mo Salah grabbed Liverpool’s second as he become only the fifth player to reach 250 non-penalty goals and assists in the Premier League era after Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, Alan Shearer, and Andy Cole.
Thiago breaks Brentford record
- Igor Thiago became Brentford’s highest goalscorer in a single Premier League season.
An Igor Thiago brace wasn’t enough to give Brentford the win in a 2-2 draw against Everton but it did see the striker make history.
Thiago has now scored 21 top-flight goals in 2025-26, which is more than any Brentford player has ever managed in a single Premier Leaguer season – overtaking Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo (both 20) – and there’s still six games to go.
Thiago’s double also soared him to within one goal of Golden Boot leader Erling Haaland (22), setting up an exciting finale.
Bowen’s brace
- Only Bruno Fernandes (16) and Ryan Cherki (10) have more Premier League assists this season than Jarrod Bowen (8).
West Ham thrashed Wolves 4-0 to leapfrog London rivals Tottenham out of the relegation zone thanks to braces from Taty Castellanos and Konstantinos Mavropanos. Skipper Jarrod Bowen also played a pivotal part, claiming two assists, to boost his tally to the season to eight: only Bruno Fernandes (16) and Ryan Cherki (10) have carved out more Premier League assists this season.
West Ham’s win was their fifth straight home Premier League victory over Wolves. Only against Blackburn (9, 1996-2008), Middlesbrough (7, 2000-2009), and Sunderland (6, 2002-2010) have they enjoyed longer consecutive home winning runs in the Premier League era.
Seagulls soaring
- Brighton have accumulated the most Premier League points (15) since Valentine’s Day.
Brighton are enjoying their longest winning streak of the season after they claimed their third successive win in a 2-0 victory away to Burnley thanks to a Mats Wieffer brace – his first ever in a top-flight league game.
The Seagulls, 9th, have now won five of their last six games, picking up more Premier League points (15) than any other side since Valentine’s Day.
Points shared at the City Ground
- Aston Villa have lost just 3 of 18 Premier League games against Nottingham Forest (16.7%), which is their joint-lowest loss rate against any club (15+ games).
Survival seeking Nottingham Forest and Champions League pushing Aston Villa both pushed for all three points but had to settle for a point apiece at the City Ground.
The draw extended Forest’s winless league run on home soil to eight matches, while it also meant that Villa have now lost only three of their 18 Premier League games against Nottingham Forest (W9 D6), which is their joint lowest loss rate (16.7%) – alongside Coventry – against clubs they’ve faced 15+ times in the Premier League.
Leeds end 45 year wait
- Leeds United carved out their first league win at Old Trafford since 1981, ending a run of 18 games without a win at the stadium.
Leeds significantly boosted their survival hopes after they claimed their first league win away to Manchester United in 45 years (February 1981) to move six points above the relegation zone.
Man Utd, who had lost just once in the league since Christmas, had won all six top-flight home games under Carrick heading into the Monday night clash, but for large parts of the game were outplayed by the Yorkshire club, who previously hadn’t won at Old Trafford in a whopping 18 games.
Meanwhile, United skipper Bruno Fernandes registered his 17th assist of the season to move within three of the joint record held by Kevin Fe Bruyne and Thierry Henry (20). Remarkably, six of Fernandes’ assists have been provided for Casemiro.
