Our Sky Bet BTTS Tips For This Week Explained

Menacing Mitrovic to continue hot streak

Aleksandar Mitrovic has played like a man possessed this season, garnering the somewhat unwanted reputation of a forward who can do it in the Championship but can’t quite replicate his scoring rhythm in the Premier League. Still, for the second tier he is an absolute powerhouse, already bagging 27 goals this campaign in just 25 matches — form lightyears away from the three he notched last term for the Cottagers.

The 27-year-old has grabbed two or more goals in seven contests already, though Blackpool have previously kept a lid on the prolific Serb this term. Will lightning strike twice? Given his scoring appetite, Mitrovic will be relishing this match-up, a chance to avenge firing a blank at Bloomfield Road. And he’s in good company. Fulham have scored league-high 73 goals. The next highest division? Blackburn on 45.

West Brom’s deadball bombardment

Has Valerien Ismael just taken a page out of Billy Beane’s book? The American’s Moneyball philosophy of signing players based on statistical data proved revolutionary in Major League Baseball, and he’s actually a minority owner of Barnsley, whom Ismael worked for last season. So, West Brom’s recent acquisition of signing Andy Carroll looks to make perfect sense for Ismael, as his side have taken a staggering 181 corners this term, more than any other club in the Championship.

In the long run that could prove a fruitful relationship between West Brom’s set-piece specialists and an aerially-dominant Carroll. In the context of this weekend, the Baggies are currently averaging 6.5 corners per match in the 2021/22 Championship season, so the Den best brace itself for more than a few deadball deliveries.

Bournemouth’s bulwark

Bournemouth are third in the table and Barnsley are dead last, so a clean sheet for the Cherries is certainly not beyond the realms of possibility looking at the form book alone. On a more granular level, Bournemouth are actually very good defensively, while Barnsley are pretty shocking in front of goal. In fact, Scott Parker’s men have kept more clean sheets (12) than any other side in the division. Couple that with the fact Barnsley have hit a league-low 17 goals, and Mark Travers could be in for a very quiet afternoon.
