Premier League stats and records you might have missed from Gameweek 33

Manchester City closed the gap on Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table to just three points as Pep Guardiola’s side became the new bookmakers’ favourites to lift the trophy.

Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Liverpool all boosted their hopes of Champions League football next season, while Tottenham’s desperate search for a first league win of the year continues.

Read on for the best statistics you may have missed from the weekend’s action.

Cherki’s double-double

  • Rayan Cherki is the first Premier League player to reach double figures for both goals (10) and assists (14) in all competitions this season.

Manchester City are now 10 Premier League games unbeaten after they claimed an important 2-1 victory over title rivals Arsenal to narrow the gap between the teams to just three points, meaning they can go top if they win at Burnley on Wednesday.

Rayan Cherki once again sparkled with a sublime opening goal, which saw him become the first Premier League player to reach double figures for goals (10) and assists (14) in all competitions this season. Cherki is also now one of only four players to have 10 goals and 10 assists in each of his last two seasons in Europe’s top-5 leagues, alongside Lamine Yamal, Vinicius Junior, and Michael Olise.

VVD’s dramatic derby day winner

  • Virgin van Dijk’s 100th minute winner for Liverpool in the Merseyside derby is the ninth latest goal in Premier League history.

Everton left it late to net a dramatic equaliser in the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park last season, however, it was Liverpool who snatched a 100th minute winner in the first clash between the teams at the Hill Dickinson Stadium thanks to a last-gasp header from Virgin van Dijk.

The exact time of the goal was 99minutes 53seconds, making it the ninth latest goal in Premier League history since 2006-07 when exact goal times became available. It was also the sixth time that Liverpool have scored a 90th-minute winner against Everton in the Premier League.

The win also means that Liverpool became the first side in Premier League history to win at 60 different stadiums in the competition, with the only exceptions being Bloomfield Road and Kenilworth Road.

Watkins’ half-a-dozen

  • Ollie Watkins’ brace against Sunderland means he has now scored 10+ goals in all six of his Premier League seasons.

A 93rd-minute goal from Tammy Abraham saw Aston Villa overcome Sunderland in a 4-3 thriller at Villa Park, which further boosted their hopes of Champions League football next season.

Ollie Watkins scored twice to reach 11 Premier League goals this season, extending his run to six straight campaigns with 10+ goals – behind only Sadio Mane’s record of eight when it comes to 10+ goals in 100% of Premier League seasons.

MGW leads the English charge

  • No English player has scored more Premier League goals this season than Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White (12) following his hat-trick against Burnley.

Nottingham Forest came from behind to thump Burnley 4-1 to claim their first home league win in four months, which moved them five points clear of the relegation zone.

Morgan Gibbs-White was the star of the show after he fired in a superb second-half hat-trick – the first of his career – to become only the third Forest player to score a Premier League hat-trick after Kevin Campbell and Chris Wood.

The hat-trick propelled his season tally to 12 top-flightgoals, which puts the midfielder joint-fifth in the Premier League charts, above the likes of Ollie Watkins, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Cole Palmer. In fact, he’s now the joint highest-scoring Englishman alongside Brighton’s Danny Welbeck.

As for Burnley, they are now 12 points adrift of safety with just one win from their last 24 games.

Blues blank

  • Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Man United means they have lost four straight Premier League games without scoring for the first time since 1998.

Chelsea’s struggles deepened following a 1-0 home defeat to Manchester United, a result that could seriously damage their top-five hopes as they now sit seven points behind Liverpool in 5th with just five games left.

It marks only the second time in the 21st century that Chelsea have lost four straight Premier League matches, and the first time since February/March 1998 that they have done so without scoring in any of them.

At Stamford Bridge, it was a third consecutive league defeat for Chelsea and a sixth home league loss of the season, which is their worst record of defeats in front of their own fans since 1994-95.

The decisive goal came from Matheus Cunha, set up by Bruno Fernandes (who else?) for his 18th Premier League assist of the campaign, which moved the Red Devils skipper to within two of the all-time single-season record of 20.

Spurs 15 without a win

  • Tottenham are still the only club without a Premier League win in 2026 after their 2-2 draw against Brighton extended their winless run to 15 games.

Tottenham’s hopes of a first Premier League win since 28th December 2025 were snatched from their grasp in the 95th minute as they were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to Brighton.

Spurs remain the only club without a Premier League win in 2026, having now gone 15 games without a win (6D 9L).

Meanwhile, Brighton have now only lost just one of their last seven league games, and Pascal Groß now has the third most assists from crosses (27) in the Premier League since 2017-18.

Lucky 13 for Cherries

  • Bournemouth have extended their club record run to 13 straight Premier League games unbeaten following a 2-1 win at Newcastle.

Newcastle’s problems deepens as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Bournemouth. The Toon have now lost eight of their last 11 Premier League matches since 25th January – the most of any club during this span.

In contrast, Bournemouth are flying, having now gone 13 Premier League matches without a defeat, which is their longest ever unbeaten streak in the competition. Only Man City, Liverpool, and Arsenal have recorded longer unbeaten runs in the Premier League since the start of the 2023-24 season.

Leeds go back-to-back

  • Leeds became the 20th and final club to win back-to-back Premier League matches this season after they beat Wolves 3-0.

Leeds boosted their own hopes of survival and in the process left Wolves all but officially relegated following their 3-0 win at Elland Road.

The victory came after Monday’s superb 2-1 triumph at Old Trafford meaning they have now finally won back-to-back games this season – they were the only club yet to.

Fulham’s first-half faults

  • Fulham have failed to score in the first-half of their last nine Premier League matches.

Brentford and Fulham played out a largely uneventful goalless draw at the Gtech Community Stadium. The Bees have now drawn five successive league matches for the first time since 1957.

As for Fulham, they didn’t register a single shot on target and have now failed to score in the first-half of their last nine Premier League away games, which is their joint-longest run of firing blanks before the interval away from home.

Hammers continue to pick up points

West Ham moved two points above Tottenham in the fight for survival after they played out a goalless draw away to Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Since matchday 22 only five clubs have accumulated more Premier League points than the Hammers (19), who have claimed five wins and four draws from their last 11 games. In contrast, relegation rivals Spurs have picked up just four points in the same timeframe.
