Arsenal team news vs Mansfield and predicted lineup

Arsenal will be looking to continue their quest for the Quadruple when they travel to face Mansfield Town in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Gunners are top of the Premier League, in the Carabao Cup final and last-16 of the Champions League.

Arsenal predicted lineup vs Mansfield

Arsenal (4-3-3): Kepa; Lewis-Skelly, Mosquera, Gabriel, Calafiori,;Norgaard, Havertz, Eze; Madueke, Jesus, Trossard.

Mikel Arteta’s men have faced two lower-league sides already on their FA Cup journey so far. They beat Portsmouth in the third round before knocking out Wigan Athletic to reach this stage.

Mansfield are the second-lowest ranked side left in the FA Cup this season, and have already claimed a Premier League scalp in Burnley.

Arsenal team news vs Mansfield

This FA Cup tie provides a perfect opportunity for Arteta to rest some player and use the depth of his squad. William Saliba and Martin Odegaard both missed the midweek win over Brighton and Hove Albion. While they could be in contention for a return, Arteta may opt against risking them.

Ben White isn’t expected to be available, while Mikel Merino is a long-term absentee having undergone surgery on a foot injury last month.

The players that came on in the league against Brighton are likely to start here. Kai Havertz is getting more minutes after a lengthy time out injured, while Riccardo Calafiori can provide solid cover in defence. Summer signing Christian Norgaard has also wanted more minutes for a while.

There should be a change in goal with cup ‘keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga getting a start ahead of David Raya, while Myles Lewis-Skelly is another full-back option.

Gabriel Jesus could lead the line, with Viktor Gyokeres dropping down to the bench, at most, for a rest.

Arsenal sitting pretty

It’s not a forgone conclusion that Arsenal will qualify for the quarter-finals. But they should have more than enough to beat Nigel Clough’s side, even without first-teamers.

This is the first time Arsenal are in the fifth round of the FA Cup since winning the competition in 2019-20. In fact, the only two seasons in which Arsenal have made it to the fifth round of the FA Cup in the past nine years, they’ve lifted the trophy.

The Gunners have had some favourable draws in the lead up to the match after waltzing past Portsmouth and Wigan. But it may be the case that the domestic trophy is not the priority for Arsenal this season.

Arsenal are seven points clear at the top of the Premier League and have an extremely favourable Champions League draw. It would not be a far cry to say Arsenal will prioritise other trophies ahead of the FA Cup.

But their squad depth should be good enough to get into the next round.
