Bruno Fernandes and Enzo Le Fée lead the Premier League woodwork stats for 2026/27 with two apiece, for Manchester United and Sunderland.
For Fernandes it fits a wider pattern. He has taken 19 shots and scored three, so the frame of the goal is one more reason his conversion has lagged his volume.

What is a hit woodwork?
A hit woodwork is recorded when the ball hits any part of the frame of the goal (post or crossbar), without going in. So a goal that hits the post or bar on its way in will not be counted as a hit woodwork.
If a ball hits the goal frame multiple times from the same shot (bar onto post, or both posts, for example), just one hit woodwork is recorded.
What do hit woodwork numbers tell us about a player?
Hit woodwork stats generally show us how unlucky a player is. Their shots are good but not quite enough to result in a goal. Remember, these numbers don’t include shots that have gone in off the post or bar. But that doesn’t mean the player is bad.
Mo Salah was one of four players to hit the woodwork six times in the Premier League in 2024-25. He was joined on that number by Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, and Mohammed Kudus. So it’s a mixed bag. Low hit woodwork numbers also doesn’t automatically mean players are shooting accurately. It could also mean they aren’t shooting at all. Or their shots are blocked.
