England Women will be hoping to reach the Women’s Euro 2025 final when they face Italy Women at the Stade de Geneve on Tuesday 22nd July at 8pm (UK time). The Lionesses are still defending their title having been crowned European champions three years ago. Meanwhile Italy have ended a long wait for a semi-final. This game will be broadcast live on ITV1.
Highest Scoring Half: 2nd Half (21/20 with Betway)
Seven of the 10 goals scored in Italy’s four Women’s Euro 2025 games have come in the second halves of their matches. Italy have scored three of those goals, conceding four. This should be a tight game, with neither side wanting to give much away in the opening stages. The game could well open up in the second half though and the goals could start flowing.
England are expected to see most of the ball but the Italian defence has proven to be stubborn to breakdown during this competition. England could well have to bide their time and wait for their opportunity to strike in this game.
Over 4.5 offsides (13/8 with BetMGM)
Both England and Italy have been caught offside nine times at Women’s Euro 2025, with only Norway (10) having more across the tournament. With both sides having an attacking outlet, especially as the game progresses, there could be plenty of opportunities for the sides to pick up some offsides.

How both teams go into England vs Italy
England’s European Championship defence looked to be ending in the quarter-finals. The Lionesses trailed Sweden 2-0 going into the final 15 minutes of their quarter-final, having been the architects of their own downfall. But Lucy Bronze and Michelle Agyemang got England back into it, and the Lionesses eventually advanced on penalties.
The Lionesses have now reached the semi-finals in each of the past six major tournaments. A run which started with the 2015 World Cup, England have reached two finals in the past 10 years. And they’ll be hoping a third final. But they know they do need to up their game.
Italy are in the semi-finals of a major tournament for the first time since 1997. Then, they finished as runners-up of the European Championship, in the tournament’s first year as an eight-team competition. Since then, they’d had four group stage exits and two quarter-final runs.
But Italy have been well worth their semi-final berth. Le Azzurre finished second in their group behind Spain, which was to be expected. They then executed a perfect gameplan to exploit Norway’s weaknesses in the quarter-finals, with a Cristiana Girelli brace doing the damage.
England team news
Leah Williamson had to come off in the quarter-final win over Sweden after rolling her ankle. She will undergo tests. Sarina Wiegman may opt to break her habit of naming the same XI after defensive struggles but there shouldn’t be widespread changes to the line up as England look to make it to another European Championships final.
Italy team news
Italy got through their quarter-final win over Norway unscathed. After securing the victory inside 90 minutes, Andres Soncin could name an unchanged XI, especially after the clinic they put on against Norway in the previous round.
England vs Italy head-to-head
England have won 11 of their 29 games against Italy, with six draws and 12 defeats. But a lot of those defeats came in the 1990s and early 2000s. The Lionesses are unbeaten in the past five meetings.
