Squawka’s World Cup AI Predictor: AI score predictions for every game at the 2026 World Cup

Using data from previous tournaments and qualifying, we’ve tasked our model with creating some World Cup AI predictions with correct score picks on every match at this summer’s tournament.

Our AI predictor combines data from qualifying matches, previous World Cups, bookmakers and more to determine the most likely correct score outcome from the game.

As the tournament progresses, the model will focus more heavily on the games that have already taken place within the tournament and it will look beyond results to input shot, possession and general match momentum data to see where value may lie.

Germany vs Curacao

Germany look set for a comfortable win rather than a cautious opener. Their recent record of six wins, one draw and one defeat featured 2.38 goals scored per match, just 0.50 conceded and five clean sheets. The market also makes them overwhelming favourites, with Curaçao facing a huge jump in quality despite arriving in good form themselves.

The correct-score market centres on 3-0, 4-0 and 5-0. I favour 4-0 because Germany’s threat comes from multiple sources, with Woltemade, Wirtz, Kimmich and Sané all contributing in attack. Curaçao’s best chance is to stay compact and rely on their defensive organisation, but Germany should spend long periods in control.

The main threat to 4-0 is Germany easing off after establishing a lead, which could make 3-0 the more likely outcome. However, both the odds and recent defensive data point strongly towards a Germany win to nil.

AI prediction: Germany 4-0 Curacao

Netherlands vs Japan

The market slightly favours a 1-1 draw, reflecting Japan’s excellent defensive record and the Netherlands’ occasional vulnerability in transition. However, the Dutch attack has been too productive to ignore, averaging 3.38 goals per match and scoring in every game of the recent sample. Memphis Depay, Cody Gakpo, Donyell Malen and Denzel Dumfries provide multiple routes to goal.

Japan are strong enough to get on the scoresheet, which is why I prefer 2-1 over 2-0. Players such as Takefusa Kubo, Daichi Kamada and Junya Ito give them genuine attacking quality, while their structure can cause problems between the lines.

The difference comes down to attacking ceiling. Japan’s defensive numbers are impressive, but the Netherlands have consistently produced chances against stronger opposition. A draw remains a realistic alternative, but 2-1 best reflects Dutch superiority and Japanese resilience.

AI prediction: Netherlands 2-1 Japan

Ivory Coast vs Ecuador

This looks like the lowest-scoring game of the four. Ecuador are slight favourites, but not by enough to suggest dominance. The strongest market signal is under 2.5 goals, which fits two teams known more for defensive organisation than attacking chaos.

Ivory Coast have been scoring freely, averaging 2.50 goals per match, with Amad Diallo, Franck Kessié and Yan Diomandé providing attacking threat. Even so, the odds continue to favour Ecuador, reflecting confidence in their defensive structure and tactical discipline.

The leading correct-score options are 0-1, 1-1 and 0-0. I lean towards 0-1 because it matches both the result market and expected goal total. A draw is a very live alternative, but Ecuador appear slightly more trustworthy pre-match.

AI prediction: Ivory Coast 0-1 Ecuador

Sweden vs Tunisia

Sweden are favourites, but their recent form makes that difficult to trust. They managed only two wins from eight matches, conceded 1.88 goals per game and failed to keep a clean sheet. Viktor Gyökeres remains a major threat, supported by Anthony Elanga and Yasin Ayari, but Sweden’s defensive issues are hard to ignore.

Tunisia look well equipped to exploit those weaknesses. They arrive with a strong defensive record and have scored consistently throughout their recent sample. Hannibal Mejbri, Elias Saad, Ali El Abdi and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane provide enough attacking quality to trouble Sweden.

The market’s shortest scores are 1-0 Sweden and 1-1. I prefer the draw because it better reflects Tunisia’s organisation and Sweden’s inability to keep opponents out. Under 2.5 goals remains the strongest overall angle, but 1-1 feels the most balanced prediction.

AI prediction: Sweden 1-1 Tunisia
