Ecuador take on Curacao in the second round of group matches at the World Cup with kick-off set for 1am (UK Time) on Sunday morning. Kansas City has been selected to host this fixture, and you can find our Ecuador vs Curacao predictions and best bets below.

Both teams will be looking to bounce back from defeats in Matchday One after the Ivory Coast beat Ecuador and Curacao were demolished by Germany. The other two teams in the group played out a dramatic clash in Toronto earlier, with Die Mannschaft coming from a goal down to win 2-1, upping the stakes in this group.

Ecuador vs Curacao predictions & betting tips

Our PredictionOdds & BookmakerConfidenceWhy We’re Backing It
Ecuador to Win & Under 3.5 Goals1/1 @ Sky Bet
(47.7%)
⭐⭐⭐Curacao suffered a heavy defeat against Germany last time out, with the Europeans pulling away after an even first half to secure a commanding victory. However, that result should not define the tournament newcomers, who have already shown enough resilience and organisation to remain competitive at this level. Ecuador will provide another stern test, but they are not a side known for regularly blowing teams away. Instead, they tend to control matches efficiently and do just enough to secure positive results. With qualification from Group E still firmly in their sights, Ecuador will be focused on collecting three points rather than chasing a statement win, which could allow Curacao to produce a much more competitive performance.
Piero Hincapie to score anytime15/2 @ William Hill
(11.1%)
⭐⭐⭐⭐Piero Hincapie is best known for his defensive qualities, but the Arsenal centre-back can still pose a threat at the other end of the pitch. His physical presence makes him a valuable weapon from set-pieces, particularly against opponents who struggle to defend aerial deliveries. Ecuador are likely to enjoy plenty of territory against Curacao and should create several opportunities from dead-ball situations.

How both teams go into Ecuador vs Curacao

Ecuador came into World Cup 2026 in excellent form, going 19 matches unbeaten and keeping 13 clean sheets during that run. They looked set to extend both records in their opening game, only for Amad Diallo’s late strike to hand Ivory Coast a narrow victory and inflict Ecuador’s first defeat in two years.

That result leaves Sebastian Beccacece’s side under pressure heading into their meeting with Curacao. Ecuador know three points are essential if they are to stay firmly in the race for a top-two finish, but they cannot afford to overlook the tournament debutants with a decisive clash against Germany still to come.

Curacao are clear underdogs, but they showed flashes of promise in their opening match against Germany. Despite eventually suffering a heavy defeat, the World Cup debutants frustrated one of the tournament favourites for long periods and looked capable of causing problems on the counter-attack.

Germany’s quality eventually told, with two goals before half-time shifting the momentum before they pulled away after the break. Dick Advocaat will now demand a more complete performance from his side against Ecuador, although that will be a difficult task against opponents who desperately need a response after their opening defeat to Ivory Coast.

Ecuador team news

Ecuador are unlikely to make many alterations following their narrow defeat to Ivory Coast, with Sebastian Beccacece expected to keep faith with the majority of the side that started their World Cup opener.

Moises Caicedo should once again anchor Ecuador’s midfield, while Enner Valencia leads the line in a crucial match for La Tri. Pervis Estupinan could earn a recall on the left and would add more pace and attacking width if selected.

Despite recent fitness concerns, Piero Hincapie is expected to keep his place in defence as Sebastian Beccacece looks for a response from the side that narrowly lost to Ivory Coast.

Curacao team news

Dick Advocaat is unlikely to make many changes despite Curacao’s heavy opening defeat, choosing instead to keep faith with the experienced squad that secured qualification for the tournament.

Leandro Bacuna should once again lead the midfield, while Tahith Chong adds energy and creativity alongside him. Further forward, Juninho Bacuna and Jurgen Locadia will carry much of Curacao’s attacking threat. Meanwhile, Eloy Room should continue in goal after dealing with relentless pressure from Germany in the opening match.

Head-to-head

This will be the first ever meeting between Ecuador and Curacao.

Can Ecuador bounce back?

There is no denying Ecuador are a short price here in the standard match result market. We do fancy La Tri to get the win here. Take the 1/1 that is available for Ecuador to win and under 3.5 goals with Sky Bet.
