Tackling is a dying art, right? Wrong.
The Premier League is packed with players who love a challenge, whether they are operating in the centre of the park, battling away in the heart of defence or leading the front line.
Of course, with games in England’s top tier played at high speed, those who do fly into duels must walk a disciplinary tightrope. However, the risk is often worth the reward as players who wear their heart on their sleeve are very much appreciated by the fans.
As we get close to a third of the way through the 2021/22 Premier League season, things are very close at the top, with two players tied for first with 45 tackles so far. Brentford’s combative midfielder Christian Nørgaard has the slight advantage having played fewer minutes, but there isn’t much separating the Dane and Tyrick Mitchell.
There’s a similar close battle just behind them with a further two players tied on 40 tackles, consisting of Dwight McNeil and Wilfred Ndidi, with Allan and Matthew Cash ahead of them.
Keep track of the top 10 tacklers below as the 2021/22 campaign progresses.
