Manchester City and Liverpool contested a close race for the Premier League title, so it’s no surprise to see their goalkeepers led the way for clean sheets.

However, it doesn’t always transpire that a rock-solid defence guarantees silverware and one of the top goalkeepers lost their Premier League title challenge.

In fact, only two of the last 10 Golden Glove winners have also won the Premier League title in the same season. Ederson bucked that trend last term when his 19 clean sheets earned him the Golden Glove award and helped City on their way to the Premier League trophy, as he did this season.

The Manchester City goalkeeper once again led the way for clean sheets this season, keeping 21 in 39 Premier League games., level with compatriot Alisson.

Behind the Brazilians are Hugo Lloris and Edouard Mendy (although, he saw his game time cut due to his part in Senegal winning the Africa Cup of Nations). Arsenal shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale and Wolves’ Jose Sa have continued their excellent seasons in keeping 12 and 11 clean sheets respectively, with Emiliano Martinez and Robert Sanchez also matching the latter.

Will the chasing pack be able to catch up? Or will a new name rise up the clean sheet ranks? Keep track of the top 10 clean sheets and saves below as the 2021/22 campaign progresses.
