Most Premier League clean sheets 2021/22: Golden Glove standings for this season

No matter how you dress up the role in the modern era, it remains the fundamental duty of a goalkeeper to prevent the ball from crossing the line.

Clean sheets can certainly provide the platform for a Premier League title challenge, but it doesn’t always transpire that a rock-solid defence guarantees silverware.

In fact, only two of the last 10 Golden Glove winners have also won the Premier League title in the same season. Ederson bucked that trend last term when his 19 clean sheets earned him the Golden Glove award and helped City on their way to the Premier League trophy.

The Manchester City goalkeeper will again be among the favourites to keep the most clean sheets in 2021/22, with Alisson and Edouard Mendy also considered contenders from the outset.

Emiliano Martinez was last season’s surprise package, keeping 15 clean sheets as Aston Villa achieved their best top-flight finish since the 2010/11 campaign. Illan Meslier (11 clean sheets) also enjoyed an impressive season, while West Brom’s Sam Johnstone made more saves than any other goalkeeper to win the attention of the England camp ahead of Euro 2020.

Will it be the same familiar faces clocking up the most shutouts this season? Keep track of the top 10 clean sheets and saves below as the 2021/22 campaign progresses.
