Liverpool to Win10/11 @ Betfred
(52.4%)
⭐⭐⭐⭐Despite being beaten 3-2 at Old Trafford by Manchester United last weekend, Liverpool showed plenty of fight. The Reds can confirm a top-5 finish with a win on Saturday and that incentive and quality in the final third should be enough to see them edge out this clash. Chelsea were thrashed 3-1 by Nottingham Forest last Monday, marking their sixth consecutive Premier League defeat.
Enzo Fernandez to be carded10/3 @ Bet365
(23.1%)
⭐⭐⭐For those looking for something at a bigger price, I like the look of Enzo Fernandez to be carded. Only Moises Caicedo has been shown more yellows in the league this season than Fernandez, with eight. 75% of those yellows have arrived in away matches, including in four of his last eight. With figures like those, 10/3 looks a perfectly palatable price for Saturday’s trip to Anfield.

How both teams go into Liverpool vs Chelsea

Manchester United came out on top in the biggest game in English football, beating Liverpool in dramatic fashion after nearly throwing away a two-goal lead. Kobbie Mainoo grabbed the winner late on after Liverpool had fought back, while Arne Slot was left furious over a controversial handball decision at full-time.

Despite the complaints, Liverpool created very little and deserved nothing from the game based on the chances. The defeat ended their winning run and piled more pressure on Slot, although Champions League qualification is still in their hands. The Reds sit fourth and can secure their place with a win over Chelsea if Bournemouth slip up, while recent home form at Anfield remains strong despite ongoing defensive issues.

Chelsea head to Merseyside in awful form, with the Blues losing all six of their last Premier League games and slipping completely out of the top five race. Defeats to sides including Manchester City, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest have piled pressure on the squad, while clean sheets have become almost impossible to find.

They did at least end their goal drought against Forest thanks to Joao Pedro, but Taiwo Awoniyi and Igor Jesus had already done the damage. Europe is still mathematically possible through sixth, but the form says otherwise, and Chelsea now risk matching a club record of seven straight league defeats. Liverpool have also won the last two meetings at Anfield, including last season’s 2-1 win inspired by Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool team news

Liverpool are dealing with a growing injury list, with Hugo Ekitike already out long term and Alexander Isak now a doubt after a groin issue, while Florian Wirtz and Ibrahima Konate also missed training; Alisson Becker, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Mohamed Salah, Wataru Endo, Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley are all unavailable, meaning Joe Gomez and Rio Ngumoha could be called upon.

Chelsea team news

Chelsea saw their defeat to Nottingham Forest overshadowed by a worrying head injury to Jesse Derry after a collision with Zach Abbott, while Robert Sanchez also took a knock and could be replaced by Filip Jorgensen; there is hope Pedro Neto, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens will be fit, but Estevao Willian and Mykhailo Mudryk remain unavailable.

Last 6 Meetings

Neither side has dominated this fixture recently, with the last six meetings split evenly (2 wins each, 2 draws). The most recent encounters have seen plenty of goals and drama, underlining the unpredictability when these clubs clash.

Conclusion: Will Liverpool Make Home Advantage Count?

Chelsea were woeful at times against Nottingham Forest last week and our best bet remains Liverpool to win at 10/11 @ Betfred (52.4%). However, for those looking for something bigger, Enzo Fernandez stands out in the ‘to be carded’ market at 10/3, after 75% of his cards this season have arrived in away matches.
