Both Liverpool and Brentford picked up victories last weekend in the Premier League ahead of their meeting at Anfield on Sunday.

The clash is second up on Sky Sports Super Sunday, kicking off at 4:30pm. Can Arne Slot continue his winning start in his debut in front of the Kop?

Predicted Liverpool vs Brentford starting line-ups

Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Jota.

Brentford (4-3-3): Flekken; Roerslev, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Norgaard, Janelt, Jensen; Mbeumo, Wissa, Schade.

Slot fitting in already

Jurgen Klopp is a tough act to follow for any manager, but Slot made an instant impression as his Liverpool side beat Ipswich last weekend.

It was a tricky opening fixture at Ipswich Town, with the Portman Road crowd buoyant on their Premier League return. Liverpool were up against it early on, but their more patient approach was clear from the outset.

Slot made changes at the break and that addressed their issues, with his side putting together some brilliant moves in the second half. The Reds picked up a 2-0 win, getting the Dutchman’s reign off to a winning start.

There will still be an adjustment period as the squad adapts to their new style, but Slot’s Liverpool reign is up and running.

The Dutchman makes his Anfield debut this weekend and the reception he gets will be interesting. Not only is he following in the footsteps of a hugely successful boss, but he’s not the same kind of character as his predecessor.

The atmosphere at Anfield will be interesting, as the Reds head into this new era without making a summer signing. It’s widely accepted that Klopp got everything he could out of his side last term, so additions are needed to kick the team on and bring more success.

Opponents Brentford have done their bit for Liverpool’s transfer budget. They’ve signed Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg from the Reds this season, parting with just shy of £50million in the process.

The Anfield faithful will be waiting to see if that’s reinvested, following the failed attempt to lure Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.

While the club has work to do in order to return to the top of the Premier League, Slot can follow in Klopp’s footsteps this weekend. The German boss won all three of his home clashes with Brentford to nil, so Slot will hope his settled side can down the Bees once again.

Liverpool vs Brentford team news

Slot has no injury concerns ahead of his first game at Anfield, with a full-strength side to choose from. The Reds boss is unlikely to make major changes from the side that won at Ipswich last weekend.

However, defender Jarell Quansah may drop out of the side, having been taken off at half-time at Portman Road. Ibrahima Konate replaced him at the weekend and he’s expected to be handed a start.

Brentford are set to be without four players for Sunday’s trip, with Josh DaSilva, Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey and Igor Thiago are all ruled out. The former Liverpool duo of Carvalho and Van den Berg could be in line to feature.

Ivan Toney was left out of Brentford’s opening game against Palace as the striker pushed for a summer move. While he has yet to finalise a move away, he’s not expected to feature in this trip.
