Leicester City will start life back in the Premier League on Monday night when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the King Power Stadium.

Predicted XIs:

Leicester City (4-2-3-1): Hermansen; Pereira, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Winks, Ndidi; Fatawu, Decordova-Reid, Mavididi; Daka.

Tottenham Hotspur (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Gray, Sarr, Maddison; Kulusevski, Son, Solanke.

Going up as winners of the Championship ahead of fellow promoted sides Ipswich Town and Southampton last term, Leicester face a tough opener against a Spurs side that will be pushing for a return to the top four this season.

This clash between the Foxes and the Lilywhites will kick off at 20:30 on Monday and will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League for UK viewers.

Cooper looking to steady the ship

The loss of manager Enzo Maresca to Chelsea over the summer was certainly not ideal for Leicester after the high of winning the Championship last season.

Eventually, the club’s hierarchy decided to give former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper the role ahead of life back in the top flight.

Leicester fans will have been disappointed to see star midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall follow Maresca to Chelsea over the summer, while the club have been fairly quiet on incoming signings.

The most money has been spent on right-winger Issahaku Fatawu from Sporting Lisbon, while centre-back Caleb Okolu was the second most expensive arrival from Atalanta.

Chelsea academy midfielder Michael Golding has moved to the King Power, while the Foxes snapped up Bobby De Cordova-Reid on a free transfer and Facundo Buonanotte on loan.

With a points-deduction coming, it will be important for Cooper to try to hit the ground running with Leicester in their bid to avoid the drop back down to the Championship.

Time for Postecoglou to deliver

Having had a first season at Tottenham to get his feet under the table, expectations are now for Australian manager Ange Postecoglou to deliver something tangible this term.

Whether it’s ending the club’s wait for silverware or qualifying for the Champions League, Spurs must show signs of progress under the former Celtic boss.

The club have backed the Aussie tactician in the transfer market, spending around £100m to bring striker Dominic Solanke and midfielder Archie Gray from Bournemouth and Leeds United, respectively.

With Wilson Odobert, Lucas Bergvall, and Min-hyeok Yang coming to the club, Spurs have looked to increase their strength in depth ahead of the long campaign.

While Postecoglou has no fresh injuries ahead of Monday’s trip to Leicester, midfielder Yves Bissouma has been suspended for an off-field incident.
