Tottenham’s predicted Premier League finish, trophy probability ratings, odds, best players & stats

Tottenham Hotspur would have been hopeful of securing a top four finish this season after coming fifth in their first campaign under Ange Postecoglou, but things haven’t quite gone to plan.
After missing out on Champions League football by just two points last season, Tottenham look way off the pace for the top four in this campaign. In fact, they’re currently 14th in the Premier League – 15 points off fourth-placed Chelsea.
Postecoglou has now found himself under increasing pressure with Tottenham currently priced at 750/1 by BetMGM to finish in the top four this season, with Opta giving Spurs no chance.
Lifting a cup might be the club’s best chance of a successful season, with Tottenham 4/1 to win the Europa League.
So, can Tottenham defy the odds and qualify for European football, or win silverware in Postecoglou’s second season?

Tottenham’s transfer window business
Tottenham transfers in
There were five arrivals at Tottenham in the summer, including Timo Werner whose loan move from RB Leipzig was extended. There is a £8.5m option for Tottenham to buy the German next summer. Of course, the main arrival came in the form of a striker, with Dominic Solanke the new man to lead the line. Wilson Odobert, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have also added young quality to the squad, the latter initially signing in February.
Spurs made four additions in the January transfer window, one being a vital one for the depth of their squad. Young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky has arrived for around £12.5m to provide cover for the injured Guglielmo Vicario. Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso both arrived on loan, with the former providing cover in attack while the latter offers support in defence.
Tottenham transfers out
It was also a busy summer of outgoings for Tottenham as they tidied up their squad. Oliver Skipp, Emerson Royal, Giovani Lo Celso, Eric Dier and Ivan Perisic were all allowed to leave on permanent deals, among others. There were a few more loan departures in January, including Will Lankshear who had made first-team appearances this season.
Who are Tottenham’s most important players?
Tottenham’s top Premier League Golden Boot contender: Dominic Solanke
Son Heung-min was Tottenham’s top scorer in the Premier League last season, scoring 17 goals in 35 games. The South Korean has scored 11 goals in all competitions so far this season, with Brennan Johnson leading the scoring charts with 14. James Maddison and Dominic Solanke join Son on 11.
Last season, Solanke finally started firing in the Premier League. Before the 2023-24 campaign, Solanke hadn’t scored more than six goals in a single Premier League season. But last season, he scored 19, with only three players netting more. Solanke had 109 shots in total, the third-most and scored half of his 28 big chances.
The 27-year-old had a slow start to life as a Tottenham player due to injury, but he’s starting to find his feet. In 20 league matches so far, Solanke has seven goals and three assists. He also leads Tottenham for shots with 52, and has a shooting accuracy of 42.31%.
Tottenham’s primary playmaker: Dejan Kulusevski
Brennan Johnson and Son Heung-min were actually Tottenham’s top assist providers last season with 10 each. And Son leads again this season with nine. But Dejan Kulusevski has emerged as Tottenham’s primary creative force in this campaign.
The Swede has created 63 chances in the Premier League this season, more than any other Tottenham player. Across the league as a whole, Kulusevski sits in the top five for chances created. Kulusevski has created nine big chances so far this season, the second-most at Tottenham behind Son’s 16. He’s also provided four assists, posting an Expected Assists total of 3.85.
Tottenham’s card magnet & top tackler: Destiny Udogie
The life of a full-back is a busy one both defensively and in attack. And Destiny Udogie has been getting himself stuck in this season.
The Italian has made more tackles than any other Tottenham player in the Premier League this season (67). He also ranks third for fouls, with only Dejan Kulusevski (39) and Dominic Solanke (30) making more than Udogie’s 26 so far.
He’s made 19 interceptions, the fourth-highest of any Tottenham star, and 67 possessions won in the defensive third, with only full-back partner Pedro Porro (78) managing more.
Tottenham’s rising star: Mikey Moore
Mikey Moore made his Tottenham debut last season, coming off the bench in a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in May. This season, Moore has made 16 appearances across all competitions, with a long period of illness preventing him from making more outings under Postecoglou this season.
Moore has got the majority of his gametime in the Europa League, playing 307 minutes across five matches. His seven games in the Premier League have brought 181 minutes, while he has also played 144 minutes across the domestic cups. But Moore doesn’t need long on the pitch for his class to show. Tottenham fans will be hoping to see more of him this season.
Tottenham’s set-piece specialists:
- Penalties: Son Heung-min
- Free-kicks: James Maddison/Pedro Porro
- Corners: Dejan Kulusevski/James Maddison
Tottenham tactical analysis & formation
Tottenham team stats from the 2023-24 Premier League season (avg per game):
- Corners: 6.2
- Shots on target: 5.7
- Shots conceded: 12.8
- Offsides: 2.18
At the start of the season, Yves Bissouma was presumed to be the favourite to start in Tottenham’s holding role. He missed the opening game through suspension, but was expected to be a regular. That hasn’t been the case.
Rodrigo Bentancur has made the role his own, sitting at the base of a midfield often flanked by Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison. There was a brief point when Postecoglou switched to a 4-2-3-1 for more defensive stability, but he reverted to the 4-3-3. Injuries have hurt Tottenham a lot this season, so they haven’t been able to name a full-strength XI often.
