Haiti World Cup 2026: Fixtures, key players and tactical analysis

Haiti are ending a long wait for a World Cup, making just their second appearance at the tournament.

Les Grenadiers last appeared at the World Cup in 1974, when they did lose all three games. So there’s a chance for history on the cards for their players.

Haiti route to the World Cup

The Concacaf qualifying section is played in three rounds and Haiti entered 2026 qualifying in Round Two, finishing second behind Curacao in Group C but ahead of St Lucia, Aruba and Barbados to secure their route into the next round.

In Round Three, Haiti were able to finish above Honduras despite losing 3-0 to them in Tegucigalpa. La Bicolor drew three of their other five group games, while Haiti won three and drew two from their other five to top the group. That group included 2014 quarter-finalists Costa Rica, who the Grenadiers drew 3-3 with in San Jose with Duckens Nazon scoring all three of Haiti’s goals.

The incredible feat of securing qualification for the tournament is made even more remarkable when you consider the fact that the team never played any home fixtures during this campaign due to ongoing conflict in the country, with Curacao hosting every Haiti home fixture during this qualifying run.

Haiti World Cup 2026 fixtures

Haiti will have to perform some miracles in the group stages if they wish to progress from a supremely difficult group. The Caribbean side’s likely best chance of picking up a result comes in their first game against Scotland, which will be played at 9pm local time in New Jersey on 13th June – or 2am on 14th June if you’re in the United Kingdom.

Haiti will make the relatively short trip to Philadelphia for their second game where they will take on the mighty Brazil on 19th June in what will arguably be the biggest mismatch of the entire group phase. The Red & Blues will finish up against Morocco on 24th June at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Haiti key players for World Cup 2026

Haiti top World Cup Golden Boot contender: Duckens Nazon

  • Key stat: Duckens Nazon finished joint-top scorer in Concacaf World Cup qualifying with six goals alongside Honduras’ Oscar Santis.

Okay, so the Golden Boot is almost definitely beyond Duckens Nazon, but Haiti can be confident of carrying something of a goal threat in the group stages thanks to the 31-year-old Esteghlal striker. He’s enjoyed something of a nomadic club career, playing in eight different countries and enjoying spells in Scotland, Belgium and Turkey. But with 44 goals in 78 caps including six in qualifying, he is the Grenadiers’ most prolific goalscorer of all-time.

Haiti primary playmaker: Louicius Deedson

  • Louicius Deedson scored seven goals and assisted nine in 29 games in his final season with OB in Denmark before joining MLS outfit FC Dallas in 2025

A speedy right winger who has played the majority of his career so far in the Danish Superligaen, Louicius Deedson may cause some big-name defenders trouble at this summer’s World Cup. The 25-year-old enjoyed a fine record for goal involvements during his time in Denmark and he’s backed that up on the international stage so far, scoring four times in qualifying for this tournament to take his Haiti tally to 10 goals from 28 caps.

Haiti card magnets & top tacklers: Carlens Arcus

  • Concacaf qualifying and has also been carded six times in his first 24 Ligue 1 matches so far this term.

Experienced right-back Carlens Arcus will need to bring a calm head to a defence that will no doubt be under the cosh, but the 29-year-old doesn’t have the best disciplinary record. He’s picked up nine yellow cards in his 55 appearances for French side Angers so far and he was also booked three times in Haiti’s successful qualifying campaign. He could be in for some really tough tests against the likes of Vinicius Junior and Abde Ezzalzouli.

Haiti rising star: Carl Sainte

Quite literally a ‘Rising star’ having spent the 2025 season on loan at USL Championship club Phoenix Rising, 23-year-old midfielder Carl Sainte has already established himself as a mainstay in the Haiti midfield with 24 caps to his name. He is a positionally aware defensive midfielder who will need to be at the top of his game in order to protect the Haiti defence against much strong opponents this summer.

STAND-OUT STAT: Haiti have the worst goals conceded per game record in World Cup history of any team to play at least three matches with 4.67 – they conceded 14 goals in 3 games in their one previous appearance at the tournament.

Haiti tactical analysis and formation

Haiti team stats from qualifying:

  • Corners: 4.6 per game
  • Shots on target: 6.0 per game
  • Shots on target conceded: 4.7 per game

Haiti possess two forwards who prefer to play in the central role and with the records they have, it’s likely that Sebastien Migne will look to get both on the pitch. However, he is unlikely to sacrifice defensive solidity for the sake of having two strikers, so Duckens Nazon may have to make do with a more withdrawn role to allow Frantzdy Pierrot to play as the central striker. Other potential starters in the frontline of Migne’s favoured 4-3-3 shape include Louicius Deedson, Josue Casimir and Ruben Providence.

In midfield, Jean‐Ricner Bellegarde of Wolves will expect to start, with Leverton Pierre and Danley Jean Jacques the most likely to feature alongside him. Between the sticks the vastly experienced Johny Placide will captain the side while Lugano’s Hannes Delcroix and Angers’ Carlens Arcus will be tasked with protecting him as near-guaranteed starters in the back four.

Haiti manager analysis

Although this his fourth job as a head coach with a senior men’s international team, this will be Sebastien Migne’s first opportunity to coach at a World Cup, having not managed to qualify for the tournament during his spells in charge of Congo, Kenya or Equatorial Guinea.

Despite not yet being able to step foot in Haiti due to the political unrest in the country, the 53-year-old Frenchman who briefly featured for Leyton Orient during his playing career has achieved the unthinkable in even leading Haiti to the World Cup finals.

A pragmatic approach helped the Red & Blues to overcome perceived stronger opponents in qualifying, with Migne ensuring his tactics were malleable – but always with the idea of remaining defensively structured first and foremost. They’ll need to be more solid than ever in the group stages.
