Germany Women get their Women’s Euro 2025 campaign underway with a game against Poland Woman at Arena St Gallen on Friday 4th July at 8pm (UK time). Germany are the most-successful side in Women’s European Championship history, while Poland are making their tournament debut. This game will be broadcast live on ITV.
Germany to Win & Both Teams To Score (2/1 with Paddy Power)
Germany have scored at least four goals in each of their past five competitive games. After a disappointing group stage exit from the World Cup, Germany will be looking to get off to the perfect start against Poland.
DFB-Frauen have lifted the trophy on no less eight occasions and after 4-1 and 3-1 victories over Poland in qualifying, they will be confident of scoring numerous goals on Friday. However, the Eaglesses have found the net in all of their last 11 and taking both teams to score with Germany winning looks a solid bet here.
Lea Schuller to Score First (3/1 with bet365)
Lea Schuller emerged as Germany’s leading goal threat during the qualifying campaign, finishing as the top scorer with six goals in six matches—a remarkable display of consistency and clinical finishing. As the central figure in Germany’s attacking line, she has proven herself to be both a reliable finisher and a constant menace for opposing defences. Given her form and importance to the team’s offensive nature, we are backing her to open the scoring at 3/1.

How both teams go into Germany vs Poland
Germany are the most-successful nation in Women’s European Championship history. DFB-Frauen have lifted the trophy in eight of the 13 editions of the tournament so far, only failing to win three times they have entered. But Germany are coming up to 12 years without success. After a quarter-final exit in 2017, Germany made it all the way to the final three years ago. However, they were beaten by England in the final, hurt by the late injury to Alexandra Popp.
Germany were pretty ruthless in qualifying for Euro 2025, winning five of their six group games to finish two points clear at the top. The only failure was a 3-0 away defeat to second-placed Iceland. But Germany have been just as impressive in 2025 so far. DFB-Frauen are unbeaten in their six competitive games this year, winning five alongside one draw. They’ve scored 26 goals across those four games too.
As far as tournament debuts go, it couldn’t get much harder for Poland. This isn’t just Poland’s first European Championship, is their first major tournament overall. And they were very much helped by the change in qualification system. Poland lost all six of their Group A4 games, sealing relegation. But every Group A team had a spot in the play-offs guaranteed as a minimum.
Poland were strong in the first round of the play-offs, beating Romania 6-2 across two legs. Many expected their qualifying dreams to end in the second round, facing Austria. But a pair of 1-0 wins for Poland did the job, making history. The Uefa Nations League was kind to Poland too, as they won five of their six games this year. Poland drew the other game against Bosnia-Herzegovina, and are unbeaten in their past 10 competitive matches.
Germany team news
There shouldn’t be too many surprises in Germany’s team to face Poland. Lea Schuller has made the starting striker spot her own, while Laura Freigang and Jule Brand are exciting attacking options.
Poland team news
All eyes will be on Ewa Pajor to see how she can inspire Poland in their first-ever major tournament game. A handful of Poland players ply their club trade in Germany, so they’ll be looking to draw on that experience.
Germany vs Poland head-to-head
Germany have won all six of their previous meetings with Poland so far. And two of those wins game in qualifying for Euro 2025.
