Arsenal team news vs Wolves and predicted lineup

Arsenal will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday at 8pm.

This game has been moved forward due to Arsenal’s participation in the Carabao Cup final. But their title (and final) rivals Manchester City will not be playing at the same time. So this is Arsenal’s chance to put on the pressure.

Arsenal predicted lineup vs Wolves

Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie; Zubimendi, Rice; Saka, Eze, Trossard; Gyokeres.

Mikel Arteta’s men have seen their form drop recently. They’ve won just two of their past six league games, drawing three and losing one. They remain four points clear at the top of the league, though.

Arsenal team news vs Wolves

Arsenal were able to rotate slightly for their FA Cup win over Wigan Athletic so should remain to full strength here. But Ben White did have to come off in the second half through injury, and he’s a doubt for this one.

White was unlikely to start at right-back, with Jurrien Timber returning to the XI having been completely rested. Riccardo Calafiori is also a doubt on the other side of the defence, having been taking out of Arsenal’s starting XI just before kick-off.

Myles Lewis-Skelly started at left-back, but Piero Hincapie may return to the team having occupied that position last week. William Saliba and Gabriel are expected to be the centre-back pairing, with David Raya returning in goal.

Further up the pitch, Martin Odegaard is a doubt having missed the win over Wigan with a knock. Mikel Merino remains out long term, while Kai Havertz is expected to be absent for a few more weeks with injury.

Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi will likely be the midfield pairing in a 4-2-3-1, with Eberechi Eze starting through the middle. Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard are expected to start on the wings, with Viktor Gyokeres through the middle.

No reason to worry

Arsenal have the chance to go seven points clear at the top of the Premier League. Even having played a game more, that’s a good position to be in. Rival fans will be hoping they slip up again, after dropping points against Brentford. But that doesn’t look likely.

Arsenal have won nine of their 11 Premier League trips to Molineux. Their 82% away win percentage in the Premier League against Wolves is their best record vs any club they’ve faced at least 10 times on the road. Wolves have also lost 16 of their 20 Premier League games against sides starting the day top of the table.

It’s the best defence in the league against the worst attack. Arsenal have kept 13 clean sheets in the Premier League this season, while Wolves have failed to score in 14 of their 26 matches.
