For many, once you’ve built the Ultimate Team on FIFA 20, you need to find ways to keep the mode fresh.
Whether you’re too good at the game and rivals, or FUT Champs just doesn’t bring you joy any more, why not give yourself a challenge and play with a specific stats-based team?
We’ve seen it before, particularly on FUT Drafts, where gamers pick their players based on whoever has the highest rating for a certain stat and try to get the best out of them. And you can do the same using the market.
Outside of the fastest players, one of the more interesting attributes players have is their strength – with some treasuring the ability to hold opponents off when in control of the ball.
By now most people will know the strongest players in general, not including in-forms, ICONs and other special cards, but what is the strongest XI in a 4-3-3 formation? We’ve taken a look and built the XI with price guidelines for those brave enough to take on the challenge.
Players tied on strength rating have been separated by total physical stat. All prices via Futwiz.
Goalkeeper: Cristiano
Strength: 85
Club: FC Hermannstadt
League: Romanian Liga I
Ultimate Team Buy Now price: 200
Strength isn’t really a stat goalkeepers are rated by in FIFA 20, with just four players overall boasting 85 – the highest of the position even when including special cards.
Of those, Hermannstadt’s Cristiano comes out on top and being a silver player in an obscure league, it will be no surprise that he can be acquired for the lowest price.
Right-back: Alois Holler
Strength: 90
Club: SV Mattersburg
League: Austrian Bundesliga
Ultimate Team Buy Now price: 200
When it comes to defenders, people don’t normally look to their full-backs for strength, instead focussing on the pace and defensive stats. But Alois Holler is a solid bronze option at right-back, the strongest in FIFA 20.
Like Cristiano, Holler’s rating and league makes him very easy to get for those wanting to build the strongest normal XI.
Centre-back: Kalidou Koulibaly
Strength: 95
Club: Napoli
League: Serie A
Ultimate Team Buy Now price: 53,000 – 61,000
Kalidou Koulibaly is one of the best centre-backs in the world right now and one of his many abilities is his strength. The Senegalese defender is often tough to beat in real life and his virtual version is no different – even when you just look at his basic card.
Despite there being better Koulibalys on the market, the basic version will still cost between 50,000 and 60,000 coins depending on your console and how keen you are to get the best price.
Centre-back: Sebastian Coates
Strength: 94
Club: Sporting CP
League: Portuguese Liga NOS
Ultimate Team Buy Now price: 1,100 – 1,200
Perhaps a more surprising centre-back to partner Koulibaly is Sebastian Coates, whose 94 strength is only bettered by the Napoli defender. The former Liverpool man has rediscovered his form in Portugal with Sporting CP and is a decent option, combining his strength and high physical with 83 defending.
Despite the high strength, Coates can be bought for cheap, being let down slightly by his pace and league – not a popular option for FUT players.
Left-back: Sead Kolasinac
Strength: 90
Club: Arsenal
League: Premier League
Ultimate Team Buy Now price: 1,300 – 1,400
Another big boy full-back, Sead Kolasinac has built a reputation for his brute force on the left for Arsenal, while not letting that affect his ability to get forward. It’s the same on Ultimate Team with 90 strength adding to solid all-round stats, considering his fairly average overall rating of 79.
But it’s that rating which helps to lower Kolasinac’s price to under 1,500 coins.
Defensive midfielder: Issa Marega
Strength: 94
Club: La Berrichonne
League: Ligue 2
Ultimate Team Buy Now price: 300
At the base of our strongest midfield is another slightly obscure player from the French second division, Issa Marega. The Frenchman boasts a bulky 94 strength, by far and away his best attribute in the game, coming in with an overall rating of 65 – including poor pace and below average passing.
These important FUT stats count against Marega when it comes to his use, but does mean his value is as low as 300 – normal discard price for a rare silver card.
Central midfielder: Marouane Fellaini
Strength: 92
Club: Shandong Luneng
League: Chinese Super League
Ultimate Team Buy Now price: 700
Marouane Fellaini may have moved slightly away from the limelight after leaving Manchester United last year, but the Belgian remains one of the strongest midfielders in FIFA 20. He has always been known for his strength, adding to his ability in holding the ball up, which made him a perfect Hail Mary player for Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
But he is a cheap option on FUT given how little players opt for a Chinese Super League team, unless they are going for specific objectives.
Central midfielder: Geoffrey Kondogbia
Strength: 92
Club: Valencia
League: La Liga
Ultimate Team Buy Now price: 1,000 – 1,200
Completing the midfield trio is another player known for his strength and physicality, Geoffrey Kondogbia. The Central African Republic international is a behemoth in midfield with 88 physical overall, including the 92 strength that earns him a place in this team. His other stats aren’t too bad either.
But, naturally, there are so many other more well-rounded options meaning Kondogbia’s price is just a little over 1,000 coins.
Right winger: Hulk
Strength: 91
Club: Shanghai SIPG
League: Chinese Super League
Ultimate Team Buy Now price: 2,000 – 2,400
It wouldn’t be a FIFA strongest team without Hulk, the man known for his strength. Although the Brazilian is a right-midfielder on FIFA 20, he can obviously be played further forward on the wing, where you can utilise his strength, decent pace and four-star skill moves – making him still as dangerous as he ever was.
Unlike Fellaini, Hulk’s price isn’t overly affected due to his place in the Chinese Super League, with the ability to link up with Brazilians in attack, so it’ll cost at least 2,000 coins to get him plus a RM-to-RW position change.
Striker: Adebayo Akinfenwa
Strength: 97
Club: Wycombe Wanderers
League: League One
Ultimate Team Buy Now price: 300
Come on, were you expecting anyone else? The strongest player in FIFA 20 – not including special cards – Adebayo Akinfenwa has held the title for some time and may hold it until he retires.
But as he edges closer to retirement the striker becomes less and less popular on FIFA, with a price of just 300 as players don’t really want to be using a silver card with 43 pace.
Left winger: Bebe
Strength: 90
Club: Rayo Vallecano
League: La Liga 2
Ultimate Team Buy Now price: 400
Yes really, that Bebe. Years on from being full of promise under Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, the Portuguese midfielder’s redeeming quality is now his strength at 90, playing in the Spanish second tier with Rayo Vallecano.
Like Hulk, Bebe is the best left-sided attacking player when it comes to strength but will need a position modifier to become a winger, on top of the 400 coins he costs.
