Zurich team news

After coming through a tough qualifying phase Zurich will be looking forward to playing in their first European season in three years. Head coach Franco Foda comes into this week’s game missing centre-back Ilan Sauter and striker Bogdan Viunnyk from his matchday squad. Donis Avdijaj and Ivan Santini should feature against the Gunners, in European qualifying this season both led Zurich’s attack with two goals each. Avdijaj played 65 minutes against FC Lugano last time out — a game that saw Zurich run out 2-1 victors — while Santini was a very late substitute.

Arsenal team news

A frustrating 3-1 loss at Manchester United saw Arsenal surrender their 100% start to life this season. Reiss Nelson remains the only major absentee for Mikel Arteta, who is expected to make a few changes from his last starting lineup, but is adamant Arsenal will not let this first defeat linger.

“It won’t happen. That won’t happen because the performance is there and we know what we lacked today – the details to lose the game,” he said.

“You are here and you have a very different performance with the same result and then it’s a hard one to take because you are questioning your level. I don’t think there’s any question about the level there.”

Eddie Nketiah, who came off the bench in that Old Trafford setback, is among those pushing to feature. Nketiah has scored in the last two games he started in the Europa League; he could become the fifth Englishman to score in three consecutive starts in the competition, after Bobby Zamora, Jermain Defoe, Harry Kane and James Tavernier.

Scoreline prediction: Zurich 0-2 Arsenal
